The Cyber Clinic had the opportunity to attend and volunteer at the Cyber Civil Defense Summit (CCDS) in Washington, D.C. at the International Spy Museum. The CCDS is hosted annually by the Center for Long-Term Cybersecurity to bring together cyber defenders from all sectors.

Members listened to and networked with speakers ranging from students and faculty from multiple colleges, cybersecurity professionals, and government officials gaining valuable insights.

Thank you UC Berkeley, Ann Cleaveland, Sarah Powazek, and Shannon Pierson for hosting this event!

On April 20, 2024, members of the Cyber Clinic and Layer Zero got to participate in the NCAE Cyber Games. They competed in both the regionals, which were online, and the nationals, where members traveled to Tampa, Florida to compete with other teams from across the country.

They worked together as the Blue Team to defend against the Red Team's cyber attacks. Team members put their cyber knowledge to use for rounds of jeopardy questions and other activities related to network security.

We're grateful for this exciting opportunity to send our very own members across the country to compete and show off their cyber skills!

Two weeks ago, members of the Cyber Clinic attended the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) Youth Summit and UNLV's Introduce a Kid to Engineering Day (IKED) to share their knowledge and passion for cybersecurity.

At the LVMPD Youth Summit, Dr. Kim and Dr. Jo introduced attendees to the computer science and cybersecurity programs, organizations, and resources offered at UNLV. Additionally, a few of our junior members presented an Open Source Intelligence (OSINT) demo to spread awareness of how much personal information people should share online.

During IKED, clinic members had students participate in our "Go Phish" activity, where kids were taught to spot legitimate versus phishing emails while having a blast!
