We have yet to meet a challenge we couldn’t project-manage to completion. We’ve never painted a crosswalk before, but what we did have was 1) an idea, 2) some experience with public art projects, 3) knowledge of the proper channels for requesting a street closure, and most importantly 4) an illustrator on staff.

(Shout out to Kelly Glass for bringing the perfect level of whimsy to our street with this design.)

Behind this project were hours of design work, measuring, stencil printing, stencil taping (so much taping), paint mixing and a lot of help from friends. Thanks to Downtown Lansing Inc. for lending a hand and agreeing to help us with this. We also owe a huge thank you to everyone who was willing to pick up a brush and sit on the asphalt with us. Our team is quite proud of how this turned out, and if there's one thing this project reinforced, it's that a solid plan (and a lot of paint trays) can turn a big idea into something real.

How many logins does your organization have? Probably more than you think. Now, without a password manager, how many of those accounts could you easily get into? If that’s an even tricker question to answer, you’re not alone. For insight into how to avoid finding yourself stuck in a turtles-all-the-way-down loop of forgotten passwords and two-factor authentication errors, check out our latest blog post.

We love Lansing. You love Lansing. The Lansing Parks Foundation really loves Lansing (and its parks). As a community-led initiative, the Lansing Parks Foundation works to nurture the green spaces found throughout the City of Lansing. To fundraise for things like park improvements, volunteer programming and community events, they’ve got a merch store open until July 29. Even if we didn’t have a hand in designing the (very cute) merch, this is exactly the kind of local initiative we love lifting up. If you’re interested in showing some Lansing Parks pride, take a gander at their merch: https://www.lansingparksfoundation.org/shop

Behind almost every business entity is a collection of passwords, platforms, and marketing responsibilities that have accumulated over the years. In our latest blog post, our digital media specialist Kate spells out why the success of your next marketing campaign depends on making time to audit your team’s roles (and figuring out who has the keys to which platforms).

No brand should remain frozen in time. Refreshes are healthy and necessary; but refreshing a brand built on a thoughtful system feels less like demolition and more like renovation. For more insight into building the kind of creative infrastructure that maintains hard-earned brand equity when it’s time for a refresh, check out our latest blog post. Some brands are driven by a legacy and a life well-lived. We’re proud to share the launch of the Joyce Grant Fund: a new scholarship opportunity that supports Black women in midlife pursuing education to explore new directions.

Honoring the legacy of educator, activist, and lifelong learner Joyce M. Grant, we partnered with the Fund to develop a brand system and website. Joyce was a force; shaped by stories from her friends and loved ones, this brand aims to reflect her commitment to equity, empowerment, and self-determination.

The Fund provides one-time awards of up to $5,000 to Black women ages 30+ in Michigan and Massachusetts who are pursuing new formal education, trade and certificate programs, or other learning experiences. Applications for the first round of awards are open now through September 1.

Know someone who may benefit from this opportunity? Learn more about the Fund here: joycegrantfund.org

The difference between a brand built for a flashy launch and one built to last reveals itself in time: when the organization grows and adapts, and their brand needs to keep up.
