A room that hosts concerts, lectures, movies and community events has to do several jobs well, and each one asks something different of the sound.

When Brethren Village in Lititz set out to fix the sound in Wolfe Auditorium, the problems were familiar ones: uneven coverage, drop offs toward the back, echo off hard surfaces, and a room inside a residential community where a big obtrusive system was never going to be acceptable.

We ran listening sessions and walk throughs with staff and residents, brought loudspeakers on site and measured them in the actual room rather than trusting a specification sheet, and designed around what we heard. Read how the room came together. Learn more. 🔗Link in the comments.

Two rooms can contain the same equipment list and behave completely differently. One works for anyone who walks in. The other has a cart of adapters, a laminated instruction sheet, and one person who is the only one who can make it go.

The gap is design. Our latest article explains what that means in practice: starting with how the room will be used and who will operate it rather than with a hardware list, building audio, video and control on one backbone instead of layering new kit onto old, and labelling and documenting the install so it can be serviced years later.

It also covers something most people never see, which is that we build and test systems on the bench before they reach your building. Learn more. 🔗Link in the comments.

If a third of the congregation cannot follow the message clearly, the room is doing something other than what it was built to do.

Sanctuaries are difficult spaces. Hard surfaces, high ceilings, balconies, and stone that reflects everything back at you. Speakers chosen from a specification sheet rather than for the room give you exactly what you would expect: clear in the centre, muddy under the balcony, harsh in the third row.

Good sanctuary audio is designed around the geometry you actually have, and it has to be operable by whichever volunteer is available on Sunday. That second part is not a small detail. Learn more about our house of worship work.

In an emergency department the difference between a good shift and a bad one is often how quickly information moves. A duress call, a patient alarm, a code, a bed request. Each one has to reach a specific person, not a general area.

When those alerts live in separate systems, staff carry the integration work in their heads. When they are designed together, the building carries it instead, and clinicians get to spend their attention on patients.

We design acute care communication as one connected environment covering nurse call, alerting, staff safety and location technology. Contact us to talk about your department.

CenTrak Exchange 2026 is officially in the books!

We had a great time connecting with everyone at the Marriott City Center, Salt Lake City, Utah ! Between hearing how hospitals are implementing CenTrak to transform patient care, collaborating with partner vendors, and getting a sneak peek at upcoming tech innovations, it was an inspiring few days.

A huge thank you to the CenTrak team for hosting such a fantastic event. We're already looking forward to next year!

Three questions we ask before we recommend anything.

How does your staff actually move through this building on a normal day? What breaks most often, and who gets called when it does? And what has to still be true about this system in ten years?

None of those are product questions, and that is deliberate. A system that fits a facility comes from understanding the facility first, which is why we do not quote from a catalogue before we have walked the space with you. Contact us when you want that kind of conversation.

Wander management systems rarely fail all at once. They fade. Support quietly ends, replacement parts get harder to find, and a resident who finds the wearable uncomfortable takes it off, which removes the protection the system was installed to provide.

Our latest article sets out five signs a senior living community has outgrown its current system, including what happens when a manufacturer stops supporting a platform, why resident comfort decides whether a system works at all, and how much easier a shift gets when wander management and door control live on one platform instead of two.

Worth reading with your nursing and maintenance leads in the room. Learn more.

October is Residents Rights Month, so it is worth saying plainly: good safety technology should make a community feel more open, not more locked down.

Wander management is the clearest example. Done poorly it turns a home into a controlled facility. Designed well it lets a resident walk the halls, sit in the courtyard and keep their routine, while staff get a quiet notification only when something genuinely needs attention.

That balance between independence and safety is a design decision long before it is a product decision. Learn more about how we approach continuing care communities. Read more below. 🔗Link in the comments.

A call light goes on. Who hears about it, how fast, and on what device?

In an older system the answer is a dome light in the hallway and somebody who has to be standing near a station. In a designed system the request goes to the right caregiver on the device already in their hand, moves on if nobody responds, and leaves a record of what happened.

That difference is felt in response times, in steps walked per shift, and in how a unit feels to work on when it is short staffed. We do not sell boxes off a shelf. Every nurse call design starts with how your units actually operate. Contact us to talk about yours.🔗Link in the comments.

Safety guidance tells a school what to prioritise. It cannot make an announcement reach the gym.

The Partner Alliance for Safer Schools has released the 7th Edition of its guidelines, and our latest article walks through what changed: a tiered approach districts can actually budget against, clearer guidance on paging, intercom and alerting, more attention to cybersecurity, and a companion checklist administrators can use to find their own gaps.

We also explain where the technology has to pick up, because a guideline only becomes safety once a building can act on it. Read more below. 🔗Link in the comments.
