⛈️ **ComputerXpress Customers: Get Your Computers Storm Ready!** 💻🔋
A few simple steps can help protect your equipment and important files:
1. **Back up your files now.** Save important documents and photos to cloud storage or an external drive. Disconnect the external drive afterward.
2. **Check your battery backup (UPS).** Make sure it’s charged, passes its self-test, and has no replace-battery warning. Plug your desktop and monitor into outlets labeled **“Battery Backup.”**
3. **Save your work and shut down during an outage.** A battery backup gives you time to shut down safely—runtime depends on the battery and connected equipment.
4. **Before the storm arrives, shut down and unplug.** If you won’t need your computer, turn it off, switch off the UPS, and unplug equipment from wall power. Disconnect wired internet connections too. Do this before lightning begins.
5. **Keep equipment elevated and dry.** Move desktops, battery backups, and power strips off the floor and away from windows or possible leaks.
6. **Wait for stable power before reconnecting.** If equipment gets wet, leave it unplugged and have it inspected before turning it on.
