Real talk: Your auction website doesn't need to be fancy. It needs to WORK.

What actually matters:

šŸ“± Mobile bidding that doesn't make people want to throw their phone
šŸ”” Outbid alerts that keep the competition going
šŸ’³ Payment processing that actually processes
⚔ Real-time updates so nobody misses the action

Make it easy to bid, easy to pay, easy to win. That's the main thing.

Staff Spotlight: Aiden Williamson, Back End Developer

I build software that takes the stress out of fundraising. At Silent Auction Pro, I focus on backend development that helps schools, nonprofits, and community groups run auctions and events without a hitch—so organizers can spend less time fighting tech and more time raising money for the causes that matter.

Since joining the team, I’ve thrown myself into the LAMP stack, picking up PHP fast and contributing from day one. My work ranges from SQL-driven reporting tools that give clients clarity, to feature updates and bug fixes that make the user experience smoother and more accessible. I thrive on collaboration, using Git and Jira to keep projects on track and ideas moving quickly from problem to solution.

My toolkit includes Java, Python, C++, PHP, SQL, and PowerShell, and I’ve applied it everywhere from building a calorie-tracking fitness app with real-time USDA data to automating IT cleanups at Baxter Credit Union. The common thread? I like tackling tricky problems, learning what’s needed, and leaving systems stronger than I found them.

Want more people to participate in your fundraiser? Turn it into a game šŸŽ®

Gamified campaigns get 30% more participation and 20% better retention (GiftAFeeling). Think leaderboards, achievement badges, fundraising challenges.

Why? People love to achieve things and see their name climb the board. Plus, friendly competition for a good cause? That's a win-win.

Try adding a leaderboard to your next campaign and watch the magic happen ✨

An annual appeal letter is your nonprofit's biggest fundraising ask of the year—a direct request to donors for support. Here are 4 tips to make yours work:

šŸ’” Tell ONE powerful story (skip boring stats)
šŸ’” Send early November before inboxes explode
šŸ’” Create urgency with a clear deadline
šŸ’” Add a P.S. that reinforces your ask

Ever thought about using celebrities for your fundraiser? 🌟

We're not talking Rihanna or The Rock (unless you happen to have them in your contacts). We mean LOCAL heroes: your beloved news anchor, that restaurant owner everyone knows and loves, or the micro-influencer with real community pull.

The good stuff: Higher bids, packed attendance, and major buzz Double the Donation when they promote your event. That signed item or meet-and-greet experience can go from $50 to $500 real quick.

The reality check: Reputation risks if things go south re: charity, pricey appearance fees, and picking the wrong celebrity means awkward silence.

Staff Spotlight: Amy Greer, Customer Support

Every year, our local National Charity League chapter pulled out all the stops for an extravagant annual fashion show fundraiser. It’s an event that takes a lot of planning and coordination, and I knew we needed to find an event management platform that could handle ticketing, silent and live auctions, and donations in a more efficient manner. After some serious vetting, I chose Silent Auction Proā„¢. We hit the ground running for our March 2020 event… and then, well, we all know what happened next.

Two weeks before showtime, the world shut down. We were devastated, but that’s when the Silent Auction Pro team showed their true colors. They didn’t just give us a manual; they held our hands as we pivoted to a hybrid model. After months of reimagining the "new normal," our event finally launched—and it was a massive success! We truly couldn't have crossed the finish line without their personalized support.

I was so impressed by the software and the people behind it that when I heard Silent Auction Pro was hiring a few years later, I jumped at the chance. I went from a happy customer to a proud team member!
Today, I’m part of the Support Staff, supporting in the evenings and weekends helping other organizations navigate the tech, crush their fundraising goals, and turn their "what-ifs" into "wow" moments.

Shopping for auction software? Focus on three things:

1ļøāƒ£ Does it actually work? Mobile bidding, payments, real-time updates—without crashing when things get busy.

2ļøāƒ£ Can you get help? Most problems happen at night or weekends during your event. Who answers then?

3ļøāƒ£ Where does your data go? Auto-sync to your donor system or manual spreadsheet entry?

3,000+ orgs, $165M raised. Silent Auction Pro gets all three right.

Text messages have a 99% open rate. That kind of reach is too powerful to ignore for your nonprofit šŸ“²

If you're organizing fundraising events or managing donor communications, text messaging solves a problem you've definitely experienced: getting people to actually see your urgent updates.

When you need to remind attendees about tomorrow's gala, send a last-minute GivingTuesday appeal, or thank donors quickly after they give—texts get seen within minutes.

The key is balance. Don't just blast donation requests. Mix in impact updates showing what donors made possible, quick personal thank-yous, event reminders, and occasional appeals.

Your donors are already checking their phones constantly. Text messaging just meets them where they already are.

Earth Day šŸŒŽ is a great reminder to think green, but sustainable fundraising works year-round, not just in April.

There's growing emphasis on sustainability and ethical fundraising practices, with donors expecting nonprofits to adopt environmentally friendly methods that align with their values.

Another plus? Going green often saves money too.

Virtual and hybrid auctions eliminate printing costs, venue rentals, and waste while reaching wider audiences. Digital bidding replaces stacks of paper bid sheets, and experience-based auction items like cooking classes or concert tickets create zero physical waste.

So, swap printed invitations for digital ones, choose local auction items to reduce shipping emissions, and watch both your carbon footprint and expenses shrink.

Sustainability isn't a sacrifice; it's smart fundraising that donors actively want to support!

Sports teams fundraise because the costs add up FAST. We're talking $1,000+ per kid per year for uniforms, travel, and fees ⚽

Easy fundraisers that work: restaurant nights, car washes, or team merch sales. Simple, repeatable, effective.

Planning a silent auction or raffle? Silent Auction Pro makes it super easy to organize and manage, even if you've never done one before.
