Car washes and bake sales are fine. But sororities have something most fundraising teams would kill for: a tight community and an alum network that actually shows up.

Here are some ideas that go beyond the basics:

🛍️ Alumni-powered online auction: Items from alum-owned businesses. Turns the network into actual revenue.

🤝 Mentorship + giving program: Actives pay a small fee for alum mentors. Career help, recurring revenue, stronger network.

🎓 Fund a sister's experience: Grad school prep, leadership conferences, study abroad. People give more when they know exactly who benefits.

🌿 Tiered retreat pricing: Base price + "founders' tier." Same event, more flexibility for alums who want to give more.

🎁 Philanthropy-week online auction: Members source, alums bid. Built-in community, built-in audience.

Sororities already have the hardest fundraising ingredient—a built-in community who want to support each other. Just give them more ways to do it.

Three things you need to consider when you’re looking for a fundraising platform for your school:

✅ Ease of use for parents: 30 seconds on a phone, or they're gone.

📲 Mobile-first everything: Most giving happens one-handed at the event itself.

🔗 Handles the whole event: Tickets, sponsorships, bidding, payments, reports.

The right platform makes a complex event feel like it ran itself.

If your "fundraising team" is you, one volunteer, and a group chat that hasn't been active since November—this is for you. Five things you can actually get going this week:

🎁 Online-only mini auction: 20 items, five days, no venue, no chaos. One person can run the whole thing.

🤝 A small peer-to-peer push: Five committed supporters with their own fundraising pages. Their networks do the heavy lifting.

🍽️ Restaurant partnership night: One phone call. They donate a cut of the night's sales. You bring the foot traffic.

🎟️ One-prize raffle: Forget twenty gift baskets. One genuinely great prize sells way more tickets.

💝 48-hour fund-a-need: One specific need, one focused campaign. Specific beats vague every time.

Small teams don't need bigger teams. They need tools that don't assume you have one!

What’s the hardest part of running an auction? Many of our customers express that it’s sourcing the items in the first place 🎁 Here is what we often say to them:

➡️ Start earlier than you think. Experts recommend up to 10 months out for school auctions. Most teams start at six weeks and wonder why they're scrambling.

➡️ Build a wish list, not a contact list. Decide what you want first, then work backwards to who could provide it.

➡️ Lean into experiences. Data shows experience-based items raise 20-30% more than physical goods. A private dinner with a local chef will outbid a gift basket every time.

➡️ Ask people who already love you. Parents, board members, regular donors. One warm introduction beats fifty cold emails.

➡️ Follow up more than feels polite. No response usually doesn't mean no. It means the email got buried.

Early planning, warm leads, fun experiences over items. That’s the formula ✨

Someone wants to donate to your cause. They're on their sofa. They've got about 30 seconds of patience and a dog on their lap. 🐕

What happens next? If your donation page makes them:

😩 Wait 10 seconds for it to load
😩 Type out a 16-digit card number with one thumb
😩 Fill in their address, phone number, and life story
😩 Confirm via three separate screens

…you've lost them. Sorry. The dog won.

What you should do instead:

✅ Apple Pay and Google Pay (one tap, done)
✅ QR codes on everything: signs, emails, even napkins if you're feeling bold
✅ A form that’s quick and easy to fill in
✅ Testing your own page on your own phone (NOT a laptop)

Mobile giving lives or dies in the time it takes to lose interest. Make it easy.

"We raised more than last year" isn't the same as "we got better at this." 📊

A lot of nonprofits track the total and stop there. The numbers underneath are where it gets interesting: what it costs to raise a dollar in each channel, how many donors actually come back the following year, whether new donors stick around long enough to be worth the cost of acquiring them, how average gift size is shifting across different segments, and how much of your revenue is recurring versus one-off.

Those five numbers tell you whether you're getting better at fundraising or just getting lucky.
You don't need a finance team to find out. Just a spreadsheet and an hour.

Planning a fundraising event? We recommend following this timeline 👇

Start 3-4 months out. That sounds like a lot of time, but it goes fast.

First, reach out to potential sponsors. They need time to get approvals, and that process takes longer than you think.

Next, set a realistic fundraising goal. Look at what similar events raised or use your past data if you have it. Don't just pick a number that sounds good.

Finally, lock in your logistics early: venue, catering, volunteers, technology. The events that struggle are the ones scrambling to confirm details two weeks before the date.

Give yourself breathing room to actually plan well.

Fitness fundraising works because people can SEE the commitment 🏃‍♀️Someone trains for months, crosses that finish line, and supporters want to donate. It's that simple.

Popular options:

> Charity 5Ks
> CrossFit challenges
> Dance-a-thons for kids
> Obstacle courses

Remember to pick something people want to participate in, make registration easy, and set achievable fundraising minimums.

The physical challenge hooks them. Your cause is why they give. 💪

Hot take: your donors aren't tired of giving. They're tired of feeling like a line item.

The nonprofits crushing it right now aren't the ones with the biggest budgets. They're the ones who figured out that "thank you" is a strategy, not a formality.

A few things that quietly kill retention:

🚫 Generic auto-receipts with zero warmth
🚫 Asking for more before saying thanks for the last gift
🚫 Impact updates that read like a board report

Treat people like people, and watch what happens!
