đźš« Every piece of plastic starts with chemical production. The Indorama Olefins Westlake Ethylene Plant in Sulphur produces over 1 billion pounds of ethylene each year. This is used to make common plastics like polyethylene. Between 2019 and 2024, the facility reported dozens of incidents and violations. These included releases of benzene and 1,3-butadiene. Both are carcinogens linked to cancer and serious health issues.

We are partnering with Break Free From Plastic to combat and expose this issue here at home. This , join us for a community cleanup during our Blessing of the Commons on April 11 at 10 am in Sulphur. Every piece of plastic we remove is a reminder to connect the dots and demand safer chemical practices and accountability from the industries producing these materials.

❤️Today is Valentine’s Day, and we have a question for Southwest Louisiana: Is your heart in Sportsman’s Paradise… or not?

We live in a place known for its wetlands, fishing, wildlife, and waterways. Our marshes protect us from storms. Our rivers feed our families. Our land and water are part of who we are. But the proposed COâ‚‚ pipeline and the Wetlands Fill Permit would permanently destroy more than 46 acres of wetlands and expand industrial infrastructure across Calcasieu Parish.

If your heart is truly in Sportsman’s Paradise, now is the time to show it. Wetlands reduce flooding, filter pollution, and protect fish and wildlife. Carbon dioxide pipelines carry invisible, odorless gas that can displace oxygen and pose serious risks during a leak. In a region already burdened by industry and hurricanes, we cannot afford to lose more natural protection.
