Most AAC boards have words like teacher, friend, or family.
That is a good start.
But real life is more specific than that.
A communicator may want to talk about:
Mom
Grandma
Ms. Sarah
the bus driver
their sitter
their therapist
their favorite cousin
the person who was kind to them today
Adding real people to the board can make communication feel more personal, useful, and connected to everyday life.
Because “teacher” is helpful.
But “Ms. Sarah” may be the word they actually need.
Quick board check for today:
Are the people your communicator talks about most actually easy to find?
Who would you add first?
