⚡ **Tip Tuesday: Don't Ignore a Warm Outlet or Switch**

Outlets and light switches shouldn't feel noticeably warm during normal use.

If you notice an outlet, switch, or wall plate that feels unusually warm to the touch, don't ignore it. Excess heat can sometimes be a sign of a loose connection, overloaded circuit, or another electrical issue that needs attention.

A little warmth may be normal with certain dimmer switches or high-powered devices, but **hot, discolored, buzzing, or burning-smelling outlets and switches should always be taken seriously.**

When something electrical doesn't seem right, it's better to have it checked than to wait for a small problem to become a bigger one. ⚡

⚡ **Monday Insights: Electricity Has to Travel, Too**

When planning an electrical installation, it's not just about **what** needs power.

It's also about **how far that power has to travel.**

As electricity moves through a conductor, resistance causes some voltage to be lost along the way. This is known as **voltage drop.**

On shorter circuits, that loss may be minimal. But as the distance increases—especially when powering larger equipment, motors, pumps, outbuildings, or other loads—voltage drop becomes an important part of electrical planning.

That's why electricians consider more than just the amount of power an electrical load requires. Distance, conductor size, load, and the equipment being served can all influence how a circuit should be designed.

Too much voltage drop can contribute to things like poor equipment performance, dimming lights, and motors operating hotter or less efficiently.

⚡ **Getting power where it needs to go is one thing. Making sure it gets there properly is another.**

🌾 COMMUNITY FRIDAY — Celebrating Our Co-op Classic Winners! 🎉

One of the best parts of the Keystone Co-op Classic is getting the opportunity to spend the day with so many members of our local agricultural community — but the fun doesn't have to end when the event does!

This week, we hit the road to deliver the first round of prizes from our Co-op Classic giveaways, and we couldn't resist getting a few pictures along the way. 📸

Congratulations to:

🔧 Dean Scott of Carroll County — Milwaukee PACKOUT
🍃 Doug Mears of Carroll County — Milwaukee Blower
🛠️ Bill Schroeder II of White County — Milwaukee Inflator
🔊 Adam Wiese of White County — Milwaukee Bluetooth Speaker

We still have six more prizes to deliver, so there are more smiling winners to come!

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by the M. P. Baker Electric booth, entered our giveaways, talked generators and electrical with our team, or simply stopped to say hello. Events like the Co-op Classic give us a chance to connect with the farmers, families, and businesses that make our surrounding communities what they are — and that's what Community Friday is all about. 💙⚡🌾

Congratulations again to our winners, and we'll see you soon with Round Two!

⚡ 𝐁𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐖𝐞𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐝𝐚𝐲 | 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐊𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐞

The Co-op Classic may be over, but behind the scenes at M. P. Baker Electric, the work that came from it is just getting started.

If you stopped by our booth last week and talked generators, there's a pretty good chance you met 𝐊𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐧 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐞, 𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐫.

Kevin oversees our generator sales and service department, and after a busy day meeting people at the Classic, he's spent much of this week doing what happens after an event like that—following up with the people he met, answering questions, putting together estimates and helping customers determine the right generator solution for their needs.

But Kevin's connection to our generator department goes back much further than last week's event.

The department was originally started by Kevin's father, 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐞, who built a strong generator sales and service customer base during his years with M. P. Baker. When Jack retired, Kevin took over the department and continued what his dad started—building on that customer base while finding new ways to better serve it.

One of those additions was getting our 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐚𝐠𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 off the ground and developing an organized service schedule for our customers and generator technician. Because selling a generator is only the beginning. Keeping it maintained and ready when it's actually needed is just as important.

And if you've ever met Kevin, you probably already know one other thing about him...

𝐇𝐞 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐞𝐠 𝐨𝐟𝐟. 😂

Generators, farming, equipment, the weather—or probably just about anything else. But underneath all that talking is a guy with a heart of gold who genuinely enjoys getting to know people and taking care of his customers.

That's exactly why Kevin was one of the faces you saw representing M. P. Baker at the Co-op Classic—and why he's still hard at work this week taking care of the people he met there.

If a backup generator can't survive years of engine vibration and severe weather, it shouldn't be protecting your home.

Cheap wire connectors and unsealed electronics are the primary causes of generator failure in standard units. The Briggs & Stratton PowerProtect+ line solves this with commercial-grade upgrades designed to prevent electrical faults before they happen.

• Vibration-Proof: Positive-locking terminals snap together securely and will not shake loose.
• Moisture-Proof: Sensitive voltage controls are fully sealed in a waterproof protective compound.
•Reliability-First: Engineered to start flawlessly every single time the power blinks.

⚡ **Monday Insights: The Electrical System You See Is Only Half the Story**

Flip a switch and the lights come on.

Plug something into an outlet and it works.

It seems simple—but what you see is only a small part of the electrical system working behind the scenes.

Behind the walls, above the ceilings, and throughout a building is an entire network designed to safely deliver and control power where it's needed.

That system includes things like:
• Wiring and circuits
• Panels and breakers
• Grounding and bonding
• Overcurrent protection
• Controls and disconnects
• Connections you may never see once the job is complete

Each piece has a purpose, and they all have to work together to provide safe, reliable power.

That's part of what makes electrical work interesting: **when it's done correctly, most of the work behind it is something you'll never even notice.**

⚡ The switch may be what you see—but there's an entire electrical system making that simple flip possible.
