Today, we remember the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the families forever changed by September 11, 2001.

May we never forget the courage, sacrifice, and unity shown on that day and in the days that followed.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

We want to share a quick security heads-up specifically for local building contractors, subcontractors, and companies that use online bidding, estimating, project management, or document-sharing websites and software.

Over the past week, we have been investigating several account compromises affecting people in this space. In the cases we have reviewed, MFA was already enabled, and the users did not knowingly approve an unexpected login or enter their credentials into anything they recognized as suspicious.

One common factor we are looking into is the use of websites or software that offer “Sign in with Microsoft” or “Sign in with Google.”

MFA is still extremely important, but it does not make an account impossible to compromise. Attackers may target authenticated sessions, login tokens, connected applications, or other parts of the sign-in process rather than simply stealing a password.

A few things we recommend:

• Keep MFA enabled on every account possible
• Be cautious when using Microsoft or Google sign-in on third-party websites or software
• Review recent sign-in activity regularly
• Remove unknown devices or connected applications
• Never approve an MFA request you did not initiate
• If something looks unusual, have your account reviewed as soon as possible

If your company already has an IT provider or internal IT team, we strongly recommend reaching out to them and asking them to review any suspicious account activity or connected applications.

If you do not currently have an IT provider and need help understanding what to look for, feel free to reach out. We’re happy to point you in the right direction.

We’re sharing this to help local contractors and subcontractors stay aware and protect their businesses while using the websites and software they rely on every day.

We wanted to share why Crestline Technologies continues to pursue the MSSP Alert Top 250 recognition.

For us, it is not just about putting a badge on the website and calling it a day. It is more about making sure we are actually building the company the right way.

Policies matter. Documentation matters. Processes matter. How we talk to customers matters. How we handle risk matters.

A lot of businesses hear “cybersecurity” and immediately think someone is just trying to sell them another tool. That is not how we look at it. Before we ever talk about tools, we want to understand the business, what they are worried about, what could hurt them the most, and how their current IT is being handled.

We are also grateful to be included in Jonathan Browning’s article with ChannelPro Network talking about MSSP sales best practices. A lot of what we talked about comes back to the same thing: listen first, understand the business, and be honest about where you can help.

Recognition is great, but ex*****on is what actually matters.

A lot of businesses don’t realize how much small IT problems are actually costing them.

It’s not always some major outage.

Sometimes it’s slow computers.
Sometimes it’s Wi-Fi that keeps dropping.
Sometimes it’s printers that never work right.
Sometimes it’s former employees still having access.
Sometimes it’s Microsoft 365 licenses nobody has reviewed in forever.
Sometimes it’s backups that “exist,” but nobody has actually tested a restore.

Those little things add up.

I wrote this because a lot of business owners in Morristown and Hamblen County probably have some of these same issues and don’t even realize how much money, time, and risk is tied up in them.

Your IT provider should be able to tell you what you’re paying for, what’s actually being used, what’s risky, and what needs to be planned next — in plain English.

Here’s the article:

Good IT support should not feel confusing.

You should not have to chase people down for help.
You should not have to wonder if updates are being handled.
You should not have to second guess whether your systems are secure, backed up, or being monitored the way they should be.

Technology should support your business quietly, consistently, and reliably.

That is what businesses really need from their IT partner — not more complexity, just confidence that things are being handled.

At Crestline Technologies, that is the standard we believe in.

Most businesses do not have an IT problem.

They have a downtime problem.
A security problem.
A productivity problem.
A “we only deal with it when it breaks” problem.

Reactive IT may seem cheaper at first, but over time it usually costs more in lost time, frustration, and risk.

Strong IT support should help prevent issues, keep your business moving, and give you confidence that your systems are working the way they should.

That is the standard we believe in at Crestline Technologies.

If your business is tired of constantly reacting, it may be time to start planning ahead.

Some of you may have noticed over this Easter weekend that Byte Tek Solutions has officially transitioned to Crestline Technologies.

This marks an exciting new chapter for our company. As we’ve grown, we wanted a name that better reflects the strength of the region we serve across East Tennessee and the vision we have for the future. Our growth has been tremendous, and this rebrand is a reflection of where we are today and where we are headed.

Around May, we will also be adding a new location to support our expanding operations farther east and better serve customers in that direction. We will continue maintaining our current location, and in the coming year, that location will move as well as we continue building for the future.

None of this would have been possible without our customers and our valued partners in the MSP space. Your trust, support, and belief in us have allowed us to grow and continue solving the daily technology challenges businesses face.

Thank you for being part of this journey. We are incredibly grateful for your continued support, and we look forward to serving East Tennessee in an even bigger way as Crestline Technologies.
