We spent last Friday at UConn Printmaking getting their presses in printing order for the start of the semester. The litho presses all got new stainless steel plate toppers along with new wear plates on all the Brand presses. We went through everything, gave them all a cleaning and adjusting and now they’re ready for some students.

Today we took a trip to Maryland and installed this cute new Takach 30x48” table top litho press for Chris Mona in his basement studio with a healthy flight of stairs down. We delivered and installed a 28x50” Charles Brand etching press for him a couple of years ago and he has been putting it to great use. If you’re not familiar with his work, especially his multi-color lithos, check him out!

We recently finished up this Vandercook 119 inking carriage project for Thornwillow Press, Ltd.. It started with just needing a missing rider roller, but so many parts were worn out beyond saving, we ended up remaking a lot of it including roller cores, roller blocks and gears. We also cleaned it up a bit in the process. It was a fun challenge and we’re happy to help bring such a rare press back to full functionality.

We spent our morning in Brooklyn doing a hydraulic ram replacement on this Reina 50 ton paper press - which is actually the first prototype David ever built 26 years ago and now going strong again. Not our typical day but we’re always happy to help our fellow papermakers.

Yesterday we ventured up to New Haven and with the help of The Arm and The Circadian Press we brought this incredibly clean Vandercook SP-15 down from the second floor of a home studio. We needed to protect the flooring throughout the house, but the ramp worked in our favor.

From there we drove the press up to Andover, MA and dropped it off at Anna new studio. A long day but always a fun challenge.

PS the feed board will get put on at a later point.

Today we delivered this custom 24×38” SPC Series 1 etching press to its new home after carrying it up many stairs to the beautiful studio of .robbins where we look forward to seeing all the work she will make with it.

Mike’s camera didn’t catch it in the light, but the rollers are actually gold. They are machined from solid 7000 series aluminum and finished with a Type III hardcoat anodized coating for extra durability and severe weight reduction.
