On Thursday, Noble County Republicans opted to put Earle Franklin into office seven months early, naming their mayoral nominee to office to replace Mayor Patty Fisel, who died April 25 after a long bout with cancer.

Fisel said she's proud of the work she's been able to accomplish leading Ligonier and credits her team of staff members and department heads for seeing the city through during her time in office since 2008.
