The junior electrical and software engineer will work under the supervision of the Lab Director and applicable Project Manager to design electrical and electronic systems and develop software solutions to meet customer requirements. Engineering focus areas for this position include test fixture development, software development, data collection and reporting. Specific focus areas for this position include:
Review of common analog instrumentation criteria and courses of action being considered. Conduct a market survey of Data Acquisition Systems that meet the criteria.
Review documentation and optimization of the analog testing methods used for testing of instrumentation. Document and develop test plans for the evaluation of data collection systems to include the automation of the current test suite, as well as a complete set of documentation that explains the purpose of the tests, provides step-by-step instructions to conduct the tests and provides analysis of the results.
Technical analysis of analog Printed Circuit Board (PCB) designs currently being used. Develop, purchase and test prototype PCBs as needed for testing.
Applicant must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and troubleshooting and problem solving. Additionally, applicant must be willing to travel occasionally to customer locations in support of design review meetings, system installation, system testing events, etc. Travel will be required to the government customer site in Maryland typically one to two days every two weeks. Employment is contingent on the candidate’s ability to obtain a secret government security clearance.
Degree Requirements : BS in Electrical Engineering
Special Skills/Experience : LabVIEW, ACAD, Microsoft Excel, Word. 3 or more years of engineering experience. Prior military experience preferred.
