An FBI official said a North Korean IT worker had been working for a US government agency. The agency and the worker's access weren't disclosed. For remote hires, verify identity, work history and location before sending equipment or granting access.

The investigation shows that North Koreans are able to infiltrate government agencies, as well as private organizations and crypto exchanges.

Still sending files back and forth as email attachments?

It doesn’t take long before you’re wondering which version is the latest… or who has made what changes.

Microsoft 365 gives your team a smarter way to share and collaborate on the same file, keeping everyone working from one up-to-date version.

Less confusion. Fewer duplicates. Better teamwork.

Your out-of-office reply shouldn't tell strangers where you are, which clients you're working with or who is covering for you. People outside your company only need to know when you'll reply and how to contact the business if it's urgent.

Your company should control the main admin account for its accounting software, CRM and file storage. Use a company email address, give access to at least two trusted people, and keep the billing and recovery details current. Need help checking? Contact us.

Does every employee really need administrator access to their computer?

Probably not.

Admin rights can allow someone to install software, change system settings, and make other significant changes to a device.

That's convenient—until the wrong program or compromised account gets the same privileges.

Our latest blog explains why standard accounts are safer for everyday work and how businesses can manage software installations without getting in everyone's way.

Not every employee account has the same level of access.

And that matters.

Administrator accounts can make significant changes across your systems, access sensitive information, install software, and alter important security settings.

That level of access is sometimes necessary.

But does everyone who has it today still need it?

The more privileged accounts your business has, the more important it becomes to know exactly who has access and how those accounts are protected.

Our latest carousel looks at why administrator privileges deserve extra attention and the simple checks that can help reduce unnecessary risk.

Think your business isn't using AI yet?

Your employees might tell you otherwise.

AI tools can quietly become part of everyday work through email assistants, meeting tools, browser extensions, and other apps.

That's why businesses need clear guidelines around which tools are approved—and what information employees should never share with them.

Don't trust hotel Wi-Fi. It can be compromised even when you've joined the correct network.

Microsoft has found attackers taking control of the systems used for Wi-Fi login pages at hotels and conference venues.

Once the login system has been compromised, guests can be redirected to a fake Microsoft 365 sign-in page or shown a fake browser update that installs malware.

The timing makes the request believable. You've just connected, the hotel page opens and it says an update is needed before you can continue.

Checking the network name with reception won't help because the hotel's real Wi-Fi is involved.

Use your phone's hotspot for work whenever possible. If you have to use hotel Wi-Fi, never enter your work password into the hotel registration page.

And if the page asks you to download an update, certificate or security tool, disconnect. Joining Wi-Fi shouldn't require you to install anything.

If your staff travel with work laptops, send us a message before their next trip. We'll make sure the devices are properly protected.

For years, the biggest complaint about meetings has been what happens after they finish.

🤔 Who was supposed to do what?
🤔 What decisions were made?
🤔 Where did someone write the notes?

Microsoft is putting a lot of effort into solving those frustrations in Teams.

A new update is bringing AI-powered notes into face-to-face meetings.

Even if you're all sitting in the same room, Teams can capture key discussion points, action items and decisions as they're happening.

I think that's a much more practical use of AI than asking it to generate content for the sake of it.

Often, we don’t need more information, we need to stop losing the information we already have, right?

How many meetings finish with everyone agreeing on the next steps, only for people to remember them slightly differently a week later?

Having an accurate record can save a lot of follow-up emails and avoid those awkward conversations where everyone is convinced they heard something different 😬

The update also includes a few smaller improvements that will probably make life easier.

Teams chats are becoming easier to organize, guest invitations will come from the organizer instead of a no-reply address, and Microsoft is continuing to add more controls so you can decide when AI should and shouldn't be involved.

As AI becomes part of more workplace tools, you shouldn't feel you have to switch everything on.

Some meetings will benefit from AI-generated notes.

But others may involve confidential discussions where you'd rather not use them at all.

So having a choice is important.

It’s good that Microsoft is working on removing the small frustrations people deal with every working day.

💭 What's the biggest frustration you have after a meeting finishes? Remembering decisions, tracking actions, or finding the notes again?
