Researchers have found more than 1,000 Android apps that skirt around data protection restrictions that ‘protect’ consumer privacy, collecting data even when users deny permission to the app to access their information.

“If app developers can just circumvent the system, then asking consumers for permission is relatively meaningless,” said Serge Egelman, director of usable security and privacy research at UC Berkeley’s International Computer Science Institute, which produced the research.

The findings were presented at PrivacyCon, a conference hosted by the US Federal Trade Commission in late June.

Monitor "Burn In" sometimes referred to as Ghosting Image, although Ghosting is a actually completely different issue.

Burn In: Is permanent damage to a screen caused by showing the same image for a long period of time. Burn-in is most prominent in older CRT and plasma screens, which use phosphors to create the image on your TV or monitor. However, it's also possible to cause image persistence on an LCD-based screen, although this is very rare.

If you see text or faint images, pictures or icons which seem to float over every window, regardless which program or website you open... your screen may be Burned In and must be replaced - although it may simple be an Image Ghosting issue caused by software, drivers or configuration.

Notice from Google: On April 2nd, your Google+ account and any Google+ pages you created will be shut down.

The process of deleting content from consumer Google+ accounts, Google+ Pages, and Album Archive will take a few months, and content may remain through this time. For example, users may still see parts of their Google+ account via activity log and some consumer Google+ content may remain visible to G Suite users until consumer Google+ is deleted.

As early as February 4th, you will no longer be able to create new Google+ profiles, pages, communities or events.

The UpGuard Data Breach

A research team said it found three terabytes and millions of files that could have been accessed by virtually anyone. The data included names of AIDS patients, details about FBI investigations and personally identifiable information about 100,000 financial brokers.
