Cyberattacks are officially moving faster than humans can think. A recent study by Palo Alto Networks’ Unit 42 showcased "Zealot," an AI-driven system that completed an entire cloud attack in just under three minutes.

Using only a single voice-like prompt, these AI agents identified misconfigurations, escalated their own privileges, and even improvised new ways to bypass security when they hit a dead end. The big takeaway for businesses is that traditional human response times are no longer enough to stop an intrusion in progress.

Phishing has reclaimed its spot as the most common way hackers break into systems, and they are now using AI to level up their game. Attackers are using AI website builders to spin up perfect replicas of login pages, like Outlook, without needing any actual coding skills.

Government and healthcare organizations are currently the biggest targets, with the majority of breaches linked back to weak or misconfigured multi-factor authentication. This shift proves that as tools get smarter, the barrier for entry for cybercriminals is getting lower, making it more important than ever to tighten up your security settings and MFA policies! Contact us today if you need help securing your business and we'll create a plan that suits you.

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) is officially scaling back its work on the National Vulnerability Database, meaning many new security flaws will no longer receive the detailed "enrichment" data that IT teams rely on to stay safe.

Due to budget cuts and a surge in vulnerabilities, they are shifting to a priority-only model that focuses only on widespread threats. For cybersecurity professionals, this means the days of relying on a single, comprehensive government source for patch management are over.

Mac users often feel safe from malware, but a new hacking campaign is proving otherwise. North Korea’s Lazarus Group is using a sneaky tactic called "ClickFix" to target business leaders and crypto professionals through fake meeting invites on platforms like Zoom or Teams. When you join, a fake error message pops up claiming there's a connection issue and instructs you to run a simple command to "fix" it. Because you’re the one entering the command, it often bypasses standard security alerts that would normally block a hacker.

Once active, the malware swipes your passwords, browser cookies, and even your macOS Keychain data. This is a big reminder that the "Macs don't get viruses" myth is exactly that, a myth. The best way to stay safe is to never run code or download "fix" files provided by a meeting link, no matter how professional the person on the other end seems. If a meeting won't connect, stick to the official app or reach out to your IT team directly rather than following instructions from a pop-up.

Kim Komando recently shared a heartbreaking story about a man named David who lost his entire $247,000 retirement in a single afternoon after falling for a fake "Microsoft" tech support call.

Scammers used legitimate remote-access software to take control of his computer and convinced him to move his life savings into Bitcoin ATMs under the guise of "protecting" his money from hackers. This is a vital reminder that real tech companies and banks will never call you out of the blue to ask for remote access or demand that you move money. If you get a call like this, hang up immediately, never download software on a stranger's orders, and only call companies back using official numbers you find yourself on their websites. Share this to help protect your friends and family from these devastating scams.

The global RAM shortage is expected to persist through 2027 as AI demand continues to outpace supply. Memory manufacturers are currently only meeting about 60% of global needs, with supply and demand not expected to normalize until 2028.

While new factories are under construction, most won't hit full production for another year or two. This scarcity has already triggered a 90% price surge in the first quarter of 2026. If you're planning hardware refreshes or server upgrades, expect higher costs and longer lead times for at least the next 18 months.

Hackers are now exploiting trusted workplace apps to bypass security filters. By hosting phishing documents on a legitimate AI domain, they use the platform's reputation to trick users and evade automated scanners.

In this instance attackers used compromised vendor emails to send links to "blurred" documents. When users clicked to view the full file, they were redirected to a fake Microsoft login page to steal their credentials. Because the links used a .md (Markdown) extension, they often bypassed standard email protections.

What this means is a legitimate domain doesn't equal safe content. Scrutinize unexpected links even from known partners, and use phishing-resistant MFA to keep your credentials secure. Contact OTS today to start securing your business.

Amidst ongoing geopolitical tensions, hacktivist groups are increasingly using DDoS attacks as a "quick and easy" way to participate in the conflict.

Intel 471 reported that while Israeli entities are primary targets, any organization in the Gulf region or those doing business with the U.S. could find themselves in the crosshairs. While DDoS attacks are often seen as just a temporary nuisance, they carry a significant punch. Even a short period of downtime can cause lasting financial and reputational damage. These attacks can also be used as a smokescreen or an early signal for more sophisticated, destructive operations.

Security teams should establish baseline traffic monitoring to detect anomalies early and follow CISA guidelines for risk mitigation.

Even the big brands take a hit from cyberattacks. Hasbro had a breach in March that will negatively impact their Q2 revenue after offline systems delayed shipping and invoicing.

HOWEVER! They had a solid business continuity plan in place, they contained the attack, kept their main products moving, and expect to recover the delayed revenue later this year. This is a great lesson in staying prepared and secure. A cyberattack will always cause operational headaches and unexpected costs, but having a tested backup plan is a game changer.

Attackers are moving away from traditional email phishing to target employees directly through Microsoft Teams. In this new "cross-tenant" playbook, hackers impersonate IT helpdesk staff and use the platform's external chat feature to message workers. They use high-pressure social engineering to guide employees through workflows that eventually grant the attacker full remote access to the computer.

Make sure you always pay attention to who your emails are coming from!
