A wonderful send off to the Broderick family tonight! Brody’s has always been a part of our Jamul life…a place for us to meet before and after service calls, dinner after sports events, a place to host Christmas parties & even a wedding rehearsal dinner. Crest fiber outage Aug 2024

Starting mid-day Sunday, we started having short outages on our dedicated fiber circuit in Crest that feeds internet to over 100 homes in Harbison Cayon, Dehesa Valley and Lawson Valley.
After fighting with AT&T for 3 days, they finally sent out a service tech on Wednesday morning.

The trouble was the same as last July. The fiber that feeds Crest is sliding down the mountain putting stress on the fiber splices {junction boxes} creating short service interruptions. This was never repaired correctly last year and now has the attention of the supervisor. Today 8/22/24, AT&T will be pulling the Fiber cable back up the hill and attaching it to the pole in a way that it will no longer be able to move. They have assured me this will not create any service outage today.

With the major Public Safety Power Shut off event happening in East County right now leaving 70 thousand plus people without commercial power, Eric and Keith have ensured that even though the grid is down, all SDWISP relay sites are up and running on our Grid Down Plan. If you have backup power and NO internet, please call our dedicated support line 619-922-6001. Please check that you have the new SDG&E PSPS app so you can look up an address and see what the current power status is.

Since March, to help our customers adjust with working from home and homeschooling, we doubled the data allowance on all of our plans. As this has worked out so well for everyone, we have decided to permanently keep the doubled high speed data allowance for all plans that cost $100/month or more! SDWISP customers are the best!

Time to change the oil!!!!

As we enter into day 6 of this power outage, it is time to change the oil in your portable generator. A new generator has an oil break-in period of 5 - 20 hours and most portable generators need an oil change after 50 - 100 hours of run time, depending on the conditions.

Please check your service manual for your generator specifications.

Remember, never store gas in your generator long term unless you are using a fuel stabilizer. Running the gas tank and carburetor dry is recommended by most generator manufacturers if not used on a regular basis.
