Customer states he cleaned out his computer and is now getting temps of 100 degrees Celsius. Unit is approx 7 years old give or take and when he unhooked everything to clean it he forgot to hook back up his all in one water pump. Even after hooking that back up I was still getting regular temps of about 45 degrees Celsius. That’s while the computer is just on the main screen not doing anything. It’s hard to tell from the photo. It that thermal paste was dry as can be and was crusty so it was no longer really doing its job. Added in fresh thermal paste, did some minor cleaning in windows of registry, temp files, overall junk, and some minor spyware. Now the computer is running! Also the customer wanted a low cost gpu upgrade too so he went from a 1060 founders edition to a 1660 super (nothing to write home to mom about but way better)

On today’s episode of what’s wrong with my computer. We have a nice high end Razer gaming laptop (over $1500) with intermittent WiFi issues. I get ahold of the computer and WiFi works just fine so I look under the hood. BAM!! Expanded laptop battery, also the unit is super dusty, has a defective cmos battery so the time and date doesn’t stay, and customer wants to know upgrade options to make it faster and more storage.

Quote to client

Laptop battery - $100
CMOS battery - $15
2tb ssd - $160 (includes price to clone existing drive over)
2x16gb ddr4 3200 ram - $80

Labor as 1 flat rate total $85

Grand total - $440.

Client approved everything and parts are on order. Should be here within 3 days total if all goes well and he will have this smoking machine back in tip top shape. I have plenty of conversations around repairs and such being worth it or not. In this case this is 1000% justified due to the original cost of the laptop, the age, and what great hardware is already inside of the unit. Plus really he’s only paying $200 for the repair. The other $240 in parts is what he would be tacking onto a new build or new laptop anyways.

Don’t let your good hardware go to waste! Contact me today to get your repair started or how about a new desktop build!

Also remember I am an Amazon affiliate and any recommendations I give to you using my amazing link gives me a kickback from them in the form of a gift card!!

Take care and be blessed everyone! Have a safe and happy new year!

Another good day on the books! Client upgraded from Comcast to ATT fiber! Such a speed difference. For some reason this made his internal network upset, server was acting up, and printers were not connecting.

After some looking into it, updating, adjusting network settings, rebooting some of it, reconnecting security system, and overall remapping of the network drive they are good to go and business is running!!

Even on the day before thanksgiving I am available and I care about your business and making this work for you! Please don’t miss out and be down for long! Call me today

Another Facebook find of Please Don’t Buy this vs getting new!!

$600 is the price! Now one of the good parts of this build is the amount of storage space, but that’s it!

This build is wayyyyyy older! DDR3 ram, older 1070 graphics card, and the processor is from 2012!!

Let’s talk what’s possible with me!

Ryzen 5 4600g
16gbs DDR4 ram
B550 micro atx motherboard
Super fast western digital black 500gb m.2 ssd
Coolermaster Case
650w 80+gold semi modular power supply

Only used part will be either a 1660 super or 1660ti depending on my parts availability

And of course windows 10 home!

$650

So for $50 more you get a far newer processor, ddr4 ram instead of ddr3, a newer graphics card, more upgradability for later down the line, oh and all parts are new except the graphics card!! You can’t beat that with a stick!!

Get your orders in soon it will not be long before I can’t make the build in time for Christmas!

Guys I’m not putting anyone on blast here hence why the name isn’t listed. However do not go forking out $750 for a build like this!

Ok it has a wow factor to some because of the case but let’s look at the specs.

The real issue is the 6th generation i7. We are on the 14th generation currently. The release date was in 2015 for this processor! You’re buying approx 8 year old processor and motherboard technology.

Let’s talk about a build I can do for you.
For $800 you’ll get

Ryzen 5 4600G 6 core 3.7 ghz processor
B550m micro atx motherboard
16gbs ddr4 3600 memory
500gb m.2 ssd
6600 8gb amd gpu
MicroATX case
650w 80+gold rated power supply
Windows 10 Home

So the Ryzen 5 4600g was released in 2020. However of course this will be new in box. Also this motherboard can support the 5000 series CPU’s. Also there is a 2nd m.2 slot. A powerful enough power supply to upgrade further on your graphics card. Oh and unlike most CPU’s this one has internal graphics so if something every happened and you were without your graphics card (or inbetween upgrades like a friend of mine did) you can still use the on board ports to run your computer. A lot of CPU’s require a graphics card to run!!

This is just one example of a build that we can do before Christmas comes! Please don’t wait till last minute all orders require upfront payment. All orders come with the standard one year manufacture warranty. All labor is included in the total price!

Don’t go getting your Facebook hacked by clicking on links like this in the photo below. This is how you get your account hacked and then they use your account to hack others!

Also if someone you know sends you a random DM of a link ask them a personal question that the two of y’all would know. Hey how do we know each other? Something like that. It will save you getting caught up in these events!

Had a customer with a mac no longer charging. I offered to do diagnostics on it for $60 with the always promise that if I don’t have a solution for you I don’t charge you.

Customer said he had a spare Mac same model and wanted me to simply swap the charging ports out. I explained I’d do that for $40 but even if that didn’t work he would still be liable for the $40 for my labor.

I did as the customer asked and it didn’t work, went a little further and checked it properly with a new charger, checked the voltage coming from the end of the connector as well basically running diagnostics. I explained all this and customer let me know the computer is still under warranty where ever they bought it from and that he was going to send it back. he asked me to swap the charger ports back and so I did.

Due to everything that has went on personally and working out of my home I simply handed him the laptops and told him to send his email so I can invoice him.

After. Invoicing him I texted him at 3:20pm Tuesday to let him know. As of Wednesday right before 10am I had not been paid and no message back. So I text again (mind you we’ve communicated via text most of the time). I explained that I’ve received no text from him and no payment and requests he text me back.

Finally it gets late into Wednesday night and at this point I’m feeling like I’m finally going to be messed over by a client. Not hoping that would happen I shoot him an email. In the email I explain that payment was due at time of services rendered, how there has been no communication on his part m, how he never said anything wrong about my services or anything, and how he needs to pay and due to this in the future he will owe 100% payment upfront no matter what now. Keep in mind this is about 11pm at night Wednesday night. 30 mins later I got paid.

Moral of the story is I shouldn’t allow anyone to be in a position to possibly take advantage of me and my kindness. I did what was asked, no complaints, and even went further to offer solutions and recommendations. I am happy the customer finally did the right thing overall but disappointed it took me being essentially “mean” to get it done. This is not how I like to do business. Worst part is he is a small business owner as well and I reminded him of that he would expect payment for a job well done too.

Ok enough of a rant I have a laptop coming in over the next few days for a screen install so I’ll be posting that on TikTok and here next!!
