6/15, 6/22 & 6/23 Mississippi Datacenter Discussion & Prayer Community.

If your power bill feels higher lately, you aren’t imagining it. A new 404 Media investigation just exposed that the average Entergy Mississippi customer is already paying an extra $10.60 every single month to fund three massive Amazon Web Services data centers that aren’t even open yet!

Article at https://www.404media.co/amazon-data-centers-in-mississippi-have-already-raised-electricity-rates-for-local-customers-report-suggests

Thanks to a Mississippi law passed in 2024, big tech gets the red carpet while everyday ratepayers get stuck with a 7% bill hike to fund their upfront grid expansions.

We need to talk about this, and we need to do it now.
Given what we are dealing with, we need real community spaces. Let’s be honest: the forum that Planning and Development did at Jackson State last week was an absolute sham.

Not only was there zero objectivity or middle ground, but the entire program refused to accept live, vocal questions from the audience! Instead, they would only allow pre-screened questions that attendees had to write on note cards and submit to two attorneys who were there acting as moderators and gatekeepers.

There was nothing "community" about that. That was pure PR.

These three upcoming forums aim for far more objectivity and actual community input. Plus, all three events are all happening before the second meeting that Planning and Development is hosting on June 24th.

Here is where you need to be at 6:00 PM:
* Monday, June 15: Fresh Start Christian Church (5210 Manhattan Rd) — Come learn from local and national experts about grid, water, and bill impacts.
* Monday, June 22:Tabernacle of Praise Church (1917 Forest Ave)
* Tuesday, June 23: Central United Methodist Church (500 North Farish)

These tech companies are impacting our pockets before they even flip the switch. Check out the full details in the flyer, and share this with a neighbor who is tired of their power bill skyrocketing. See you there.

Microsoft has confirmed that a recent software update is causing a headache for some computer users. Here is the simple breakdown of what is happening:

The Problem: After installing the latest Windows updates, some computers are accidentally triggering a security feature called BitLocker.

What you should do:
If you use Windows, it is a good idea to find your BitLocker Recovery Key RIGHT NOW and save it somewhere physical (like a piece of paper) or on a different device. You can usually find this in your Microsoft Account online under "Security" or "Recovery Keys."

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF YOU DON'T HAVE THIS: Instead of seeing your normal login screen, your computer might show a "Recovery Screen" asking for a **48-digit key**. 🗣️ You cannot get into your computer or access your files without this long number.

Who is affected? It mostly affects people using Windows 10 or Windows 11 who have certain security settings enabled.

The Cause: The update makes a change to how the computer verifies its own security hardware, which "startles" the system into thinking it might be under attack, so it locks itself down for your protection.

Hey! Is your home or office Wi-Fi vulnerable? let's change your manufacturer router password real quick!

When you leave the default credentials active, you are essentially leaving the "master key" under the mat. Default passwords (like "admin" or "password") are the primary targets for Brute Force Attacks.

Why changing the default password is crucial: Prevents Bandwidth Theft: Keeps neighbors from slowing down your connection. TAKES

LESS THAN 60 SECONDS. Protects Personal Data: Hardens your network against man-in-the-middle attacks.

Secures Smart Devices: Your smart fridge or cameras are only as secure as the router they connect to.

Have you changed your router password (not the network key)?

Imagine New Orleans during Katrina. That's how hazardous today's digital landscape is right now. No joke.

To be blunt, Iran has some of the most capable "black hats" (hackers) on the planet, and they are TURNING UP due to this unnecessary war.

To keep your data safe, please update your Apple devices to iOS 26.3 or the highest version supported. Samsung users should switch to the new OneUI 7.0, while other Android owners should check with their manufacturers for the latest updates. These steps are critical for anyone accessing organizational emails to prevent security breaches. Additionally, those with high-speed home internet should contact their provider to ensure their router's firmware is fully updated.

If you can't update to these settings, I'll be candid: you may need to consider upgrading your phone.

How to Update Your Devices
Here is a quick checklist to help you find the update settings for your mobile devices and home network:

1. For Apple iPhone (iOS)
* Open the Settings app.
* Tap General.
* Tap Software Update.
* If an update is available (look for iOS 26.3 or higher), tap Download and Install.

2. For Samsung Galaxy (OneUI)
* Open Settings.
* Scroll down and tap Software Update.
* Tap Download and install.
* Follow the prompts to install OneUI 7.0.

3. For Other Android Devices
* Open Settings.
* Tap System (or About Phone).
* Tap System Update or Software Update.
* Select Check for update. If none appears, visit your manufacturer’s support website for specific instructions.

4. For Your Home Internet (Firmware)
* Check the App: Most modern providers (like Xfinity, AT&T, or Spectrum) have a mobile app where you can manage your router and check for updates.
* Call your Provider: If you don't have an app, call the customer service number on your internet bill and ask, "Is my router running the latest firmware, or does it need a security update?"
* Manual Restart: Sometimes, simply unplugging your router for 30 seconds and plugging it back in will trigger an automatic update download.

Security Alert: Hikvision Breach

The unthinkable happened yesterday. Hikvision, a global leader in surveillance technology, confirmed a massive security breach that has left millions of devices—from corporate hubs to private doorbells—potentially exposed.

This isn’t just a corporate headache; it’s a wake-up call for the entire tech industry. When the systems built to keep us safe become the entry point for attackers, the definition of "security" has to change.

Why This Matters:
* Privacy at Risk: Live feeds and archived footage may have been compromised.
* Infrastructure Vulnerability: Thousands of government and enterprise networks rely on these systems.
* The "Trust" Gap: A stark reminder that no hardware is 100% unhackable.

Action Step: If you use Hikvision hardware, change your admin passwords immediately, update to the latest firmware, and consider isolating your cameras on a separate VLAN.

Stay vigilant and keep your firmware updated. Security is a process, not a product.

We are approaching nearly 500 recorded global e-ransom victims (now: the actual number of hacks is exponentially greater than this number, when a ransom happen, it's when your files have been encrypted by a threat actor and they are charging you to unlock them, it's a lot like being locked out of your own home and the robber telling you to pay them to let you back in).

Stopped a random ransom attack TODAY at a local Metro Jackson organization's office.
