DIVaero is looking for a seasoned MIL/AERO Technical Writer. Candidate will have a minimum (recent) of 2 years' experience developing, writing and editing TO's with WP's, Technical Specifications, and other documentation related to Military/Aerospace applications. The right candidate will be fluent in the acronyms and (current) requirements of creating Technical Documents for MIL/AERO programs and with government document reporting standards (DIDs) such as MIL-STD-38784 and MIL-DTL-87929F. Candidate will work with in-house technical and managerial staff. Contract position is project-based. DIVaero employment is contingent on verifying U.S.-person status. The applicant will be required to answer certain questions for export control purposes, and that information will be reviewed by compliance personnel to ensure compliance with federal law. We are proud of Ed’s successful completion of “PCB Design for Military and Aerospace” training program from IPC that addresses specific challenges encountered in military and aerospace applications, including the effects of vibration, shock, radiation, and altitude, extended operating temperature range, and other design considerations for high reliability applications. The class also focuses on the impact of these designs on manufacturing and assembly techniques, documentation, and manufacturing file generation.

Ed has been designing electronic assemblies and modules for over 40 years for all types of applications and industries. DIVaero is proud to have Ed as a team member and contribute to his successful career. Congratulations, Ed!

An end of the year update from Mr. Stan Bentley, P.E.:

Hi Linkedin Folks!

A few comments with 2021 winding down. During 2021, I agreed to manage/mentor the ICAPE team in the USA to focus on developing the brand, expanding capabilities, and putting top talent into place. The growth in the two main Divisions (DIVSYS and ICAPE USA) exceeded 2020 by 3X for DIVSYS and 2.5X for IUSA.

I hope by the end of 2022 that I can transition to more consulting, teaching, and writing. I have started documenting what I learned over a 50-year career. Including 8 different technical articles for Trade “Rags”,6 webinars on topics such as PCB Cost Drivers, Designing for Heavy Copper Applications, and Designing with HDI Technology.

I also have focused on creating a series of 30-minute "webinars" for the internal team. 13 on PCB Technology, 6 on Laboratory analysis of PCBs and PCBA’s, and 12 on Assembly Processes. I plan to convert these to a reference book about the Electronic Manufacturing process.

The DIVaero operation has grown during 2021 as well. The focus of this team is the development of ITAR modules by re-designing obsolete modules to be a form/fit/function replacement, but with all of the new testing required for endurance as well as cyber security.

The team spent most of 2021 completing the first of these projects while building the infrastructure for additional programs. The team achieved a combined AS9100 and ISO9001/2015 registration in early December and is now ready to start marketing their services. This is where I hope to spend a lot more time where I get to dust off my rusty design skills!

A final comment about the state of the USA Electronic industry. In my travels to Large and small companies, I am seeing a very healthy return to the USA (and North America) of products that left the country with a pure “herd” mentality and no real analysis of the true cost of managing a remote supply chain. We had a combination of financial wizards seizing upon the “magic” of Excel and flattering books by a few notable corporate leaders extolling the riches their companies were achieving. Truly a marriage made in He__. Excel allowed the finance department to start with the result they desired and work backwards to fill in the supporting data. In company after company, those least capable of running the company were finally in charge. Everyone will draw their own conclusions how that worked out, but suffice it to say there is a very satisfying trend to rebuild our manufacturing base. BTW, has anyone seen a GE appliance lately? Just asking.
