Here's the honest reality of ad spend minimums:

🔎 Google Search: $1,000 per month is the floor for most markets to generate enough data to optimize.
📢 Meta Ads for awareness: $500 per month can work in a tight local market.
📥 Meta Ads for lead generation: $1,000 per month minimum to test properly.

Below these thresholds, you're not really running a campaign. You're running a test with no real signal.

Before you increase budget, make sure your setup is right. Before you cut budget, make sure it's actually been enough to measure.

Here's something most businesses don't realize: their About page is one of the most visited pages on their entire website. And most of them treat it like a formality.

A few sentences about when the company was founded, a stock photo, maybe a mission statement nobody asked for. That's not an About page. That's a missed opportunity.

Your About page is where people go when they're deciding whether to trust you. They've already seen what you do - now they want to know who you are, why you do it, and whether you're the right fit for them.

A good About page does three things:

1) Tells a real story - not a corporate bio
2) Shows the people behind the business - faces build trust faster than words
3) Connects your work to something the reader actually cares about

If you're only running ads to cold audiences, you're leaving a lot of money on the table.

Retargeting lets you show ads specifically to people who have already visited your website, engaged with your content, or watched your videos. These are warm audiences - people who already know who you are.

And warm audiences convert at a significantly higher rate than cold ones.

Most small businesses skip retargeting because it feels complicated. It isn't. It just requires a pixel on your website and a basic campaign structure.

There's a metric a lot of businesses chase that doesn't actually mean what they think it means.

Reach.

Reach tells you how many unique people your post was shown to. Which is different from views, which is the total # of times someone viewed your content, even the same viewer. It says nothing about whether anyone stopped, read, clicked, or cared.

Engagement - saves, shares, comments, link clicks - is what tells you if your content actually landed.

A post with 5,000 reach and 3 likes performed worse than a post with 800 reach and 20 comments. Every time.

If your social media report is full of reach numbers and light on engagement data, it's worth asking what you're actually measuring - and why.

Every marketing strategy stops working eventually. That's not failure - it's feedback.

When results start to drop, most businesses do one of two things: panic and try something new, or keep doing the same thing, hoping it turns around.

Neither works.

Here's what actually does:

1. Stop and look at the data. What changed? Traffic, engagement, conversions - where did the drop happen?
2. Isolate the variable. Did you change something? Did the platform change? Did your audience change?
3. Test one thing at a time. Not three. One.
4. Give it time. Most changes take 2 to 4 weeks to show meaningful results.

Marketing that stops working isn't broken. It's telling you something. The businesses that grow are the ones that listen.

→ A simple opt-in form on your website with a clear value offer - a discount, a free guide, or early access to something
→ A post-purchase or post-inquiry follow-up asking if they'd like to stay in the loop
