Another Spectrum outage just reported for Incline Village. Supposed to be resolved by 11:00AM. Our phone ringing off the hook! AT&T should pull more fiber optic cable in Incline Village, and businesses can get off Spectrum.

Received call from Spectrum regarding outage in apparently it is throughout Incline Village not just the usual Hyatt Regency distribution node. Outage includes all services including Landline Internet an TV. Must be cut, because Verizon has been down as well (both lease the same Fiber Optic).

TRPA approves new Verizon Cell Tower for Southwest Incline Village, NV. This region of Incline Village typically has No Service, due to overloading of the small amount of bandwidth available. Both Spectrum technicians and during Peak Summer Months, or holidays in December cannot get a cell signal without going outside, and even then making a call can be difficult in this region of Incline Village. Most Spectrum Technicians require data to activate equipment, and lately they must call another technician with Cell Coverage to enable or activate Modems for Internet or Phones & TV.

Since the East Shore Bike Path has opened, visitors all carry cell phones, and many residents on Verizon have seen "NO SERVICE" in this region. This has been a public safety issue for a long time for both AT&T & Verizon, requiring the use of Wi-Fi Calling.

We noticed Verizon signal in Incline Village near Tunnel Creek is still 1x/3G and rarely LTE. Most of the time cell phones in this area have “No Service” or 1-bar of CDMA with no data indication or 1x. Verizon was supposed to kill 3G couple of years ago, but they delayed the decision which is beneficial to the Lake Tahoe area. With NV Energy proposing PSOM events, it will kill communications in Southwest Incline Village, since WiFi calling will not work and we must rely on little or no AT&T & Verizon signal. The terrain in Southwest Incline Village doesn’t help, and the bike path is crowded with visitors each with a cellphone using what little bandwidth is available. Verizon was supposed to add a tower near Tunnel Creek, which was originally denied then appealed and approved.

If poor cell service is not addressed in Lake Tahoe in general, and poor service continues to be ignored by AT&T & Verizon residents will be left without options to call emergency services during NV Energy PSOM event, because most Land Line phones require power, and Cell Phones display “No Service” due to the lack of available bandwidth. If 3G/4G/1x disappears before poor coverage is addressed 911 calls will be impossible in Southwest Incline Village!

In Incline Village, NV the 2nd proposed Verizon tower planned for 1200 Tunnel Creek Rd. has been denied. So at the end of 2019 CDMA is gone which spells the end of Verizon coverage. CDMA EVDO is king here, LTE signal very weak, no bandwidth. AT&T us not much better!

Be aware of this Scam Caller!

We are sick and tired of SCAM Calls! We have also been informed our Cell Number has been Spoofed and used to scam others about Delinquent College Loans! This is really intrusive, and we contacted and complained.

The latest SCAM call came from (866)-934-8446. Googling number points to "Icomm Cabling Systems" in Citrus Heights. Their page is below:

We called the number back to learn it is disconnected. The Nomorobo website below has a recording of the fraudulent call supposedly from "Department of Social Security Administration".

Please do not give scammers the Time of Day! Too many of our clients have fallen for these scams, costing them thousands of dollars (i.e call from Microsoft claiming computer has a virus).

We do use Nomorobo on Landline, about to sign up for mobile.

We discovered VLC (Version 3.0.x will not allow live streaming of IP Cameras (i.e. Daha) using MJPEG or H.264 subtypes without receiving Error Message, "VLC is unable to open the MRL file".

Our solution was to uninstall Version 3.0.4 (or earlier Virsion 3) and download older version 2.2.8 x64 from VideoLAN FTP Site. This version can be downloaded below (we recommend you not downloaded this from unknown software distribution):

We use VLC to test IP Cameras, and after installing version 3.x a few months ago, we were unable to use it to test IP network streams. If you have experienced this issue (still not resolved as of version 3.0.4), then we recommend rolling back to version 2.2.8.
