CMMC compliance shouldn't become a fire drill every time an annual affirmation is due.

Read the full blog through the link in the comments to learn how continuous compliance can make CMMC annual affirmations more predictable and manageable.

The blog explores:
🛡️ Ongoing Readiness: Why annual affirmations shouldn't become a last-minute compliance effort
🛡️ Current Documentation: How regularly maintaining policies, procedures, and evidence can reduce unnecessary preparation
🛡️ Internal Reviews and Gap Assessments: How routine validation can help identify weaknesses before affirmation time
🛡️ Security and Compliance Alignment: Why cybersecurity operations and compliance activities should work together, not in separate silos

Annual affirmations should reinforce what your organization already knows about its compliance posture, rather than become the moment you discover unresolved gaps.

Make continuous compliance the routine, so annual affirmation becomes confirmation, not investigation.

Recent attacks against U.S. water and wastewater utilities show how exposed industrial control systems can turn a cybersecurity weakness into a real-world operational crisis.

According to the report, utilities across at least seven states experienced attacks involving internet-facing Rockwell Automation controllers. Attackers changed passwords and network settings, interfered with monitoring and control, and in at least one case modified controller programming logic. Reported impacts included flooding and loss of water pressure.

What makes this especially concerning is that attackers don't necessarily need sophisticated zero-day exploits. Internet-exposed devices, weak credentials, insecure remote access, and legitimate engineering tools can provide enough access to manipulate physical processes.

For organizations supporting critical infrastructure, defense, maritime operations, and the Defense Industrial Base, securing operational technology is no longer just an IT issue. It is about operational resilience, safety, and mission continuity.

MAD Security helps organizations strengthen their cybersecurity posture through:
🛡️ 24/7 SOC monitoring and threat detection
🛡️ Vulnerability and risk management
🛡️ Incident response and containment
🛡️ NIST, DFARS, and CMMC compliance expertise

Reach out to MAD Security TODAY and work with a trusted cybersecurity partner that understands the security and compliance demands facing mission-critical organizations.

Hackers exploit exposed industrial controllers to disrupt US water utilities, using weak passwords and remote access to alter operations.

NEW BLOG ALERT!

Do you know what your cloud provider actually means when it says it is “FedRAMP 20x certified”?

Read the blog TODAY (link in comments) to learn why a FedRAMP claim is only the starting point when evaluating cloud services that process, store, or transmit Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).

For defense contractors, the details matter. You need to understand the specific Cloud Service Offering, the applicable FedRAMP certification class and status, and whether the provider holds an actual FedRAMP certification or is relying on FedRAMP Moderate equivalency.

With FedRAMP 20x introducing new certification terminology, knowing what sits behind a provider’s claim can help your organization make better-informed cloud security and compliance decisions.

In this blog, you will learn:

✔️ What FedRAMP 20x means for defense contractors
✔️ How FedRAMP 20x Class C relates to FedRAMP Moderate
✔️ Why “FedRAMP 20x certified” does not tell you everything
✔️ The difference between FedRAMP certification and FedRAMP Moderate equivalency
✔️ What to verify before allowing a cloud service to handle CUI

A certification label can start the conversation. Verification should be finished. Know what the FedRAMP 20x claim actually covers before trusting a cloud service with CUI.

IT problem or cybersecurity problem? Know who owns what.

On October 15, 2026, at 2:00 PM CT, get clarity on how MSP and MSSP responsibilities fit together. Secure your spot through the registration link in the comments.

One of the easiest ways to create gaps is to assume someone else owns the responsibility.

Clear ownership helps prevent missed alerts, delayed responses, and confusion when an issue occurs. Your MSP and MSSP should understand where their responsibilities begin, where they intersect, and how each team supports the other.

Adam Starnes, Customer Experience Manager at MAD Security; Jaclyn Jones; and guest speaker Wade Blevins, VP of Sales and Marketing at Agile Information Services, will lead our October Sales Town Hall Webinar as we unpack the division between IT and cybersecurity.

Get answers to:
🖥️ What responsibilities typically sit with the MSP
🛡️ What responsibilities belong with the MSSP
🤝 Where collaboration is most important
⚡ How clearer roles can improve communication and response

When everyone knows their role, fewer things fall through the cracks.
Get the clarity your team needs. Register today for the Town Hall through the link in the comments.
