📱 CELL TECH TIP: What are those little dots on your iPhone?

Ever notice an orange or green dot near the top of your screen? Your iPhone is letting you know when an app is using your microphone or camera!

🟠 ORANGE DOT: An app is using your microphone—such as during a phone call or when recording a voice message.

🟢 GREEN DOT: An app is using your camera, or your camera and microphone together—such as when taking a photo or making a video call.

🔎 Curious which app used them? Open Control Center to see information about recent camera or microphone access.

These indicators are normal when you’re using those features. If one appears unexpectedly, check which app is responsible and review its permissions under Settings → Privacy & Security.

A little knowledge goes a long way toward keeping you in control of your technology! 👍

🔥 THIS is what happens when Liquid Metal goes wrong… 🔥

This gaming laptop came into Cell Tech with a serious overheating problem — and once we opened it up, we could see exactly why.

The processor was getting so hot that it actually left a black burn mark on the heatsink. 😳

⚠️ The culprit? Poor Liquid Metal coverage.

Liquid metal is an EXCELLENT thermal compound and is used in many high-performance gaming laptops because of how efficiently it transfers heat.

But there's a catch…

Unlike traditional thermal paste, liquid metal needs consistent, even coverage across the processor. Over time, it can shift, pool, or leave areas of the chip without adequate coverage.

When that happens, you can develop extreme hot spots on the processor — exactly what happened here.

🔥 Extreme temperatures

🎮 PS5 OWNERS — THIS IS WHAT’S HIDING UNDER YOUR LIQUID METAL! 👀

The before & after photos below show what oxidation and uneven liquid-metal coverage can look like inside a PlayStation 5 — and what it looks like after being properly cleaned, polished, and serviced.

🔥 Why does this happen?

The PS5 uses liquid metal between the processor and heatsink to transfer heat. Over time, the liquid metal can become uneven or pool toward one area, potentially leaving areas of the processor with poorer thermal contact.

This can contribute to hot spots, higher temperatures, overheating, or shutdown issues.

We generally recommend operating your PS5 horizontally from day one. Keeping the console horizontal can help the liquid metal remain more evenly distributed across the processor instead of settling toward one side over long periods of use.

🛠️ Our PS5 Liquid Metal / Oxidation Service includes:

• Disassembling the console
• Inspecting the processor and liquid metal
• Removing and polishing oxidation buildup when present
• Cleaning the existing thermal interface
• Applying and redistributing fresh liquid metal
• Reassembling and testing the console

The goal is simple: restore proper thermal contact and help your PS5 cool the way it should.
