Recycling doesn’t end at the bin. In Waller, Texas, it’s just the beginning.
Ever wonder what really happens to the plastic bags and packaging you toss in the recycling bin? Most of it ends up in a landfill, where it can sit for 20 to 50 years. But one Texas company is rewriting that story.
NaturaPCR is the largest producer of post-consumer resin (PCR) pellets, raw material made from recycled plastics. Headquartered in Houston, the company recently expanded its operations with a new 268,000 sq ft processing facility in Waller, TX, giving discarded plastic a powerful second life.
Designed by Goree, the facility was crafted with precision, taking into account every stage of the plastic's journey—from drop-off to transformation. To ensure efficiency, aerial superimposed renderings were used to help NaturaPCR visualize how the site would function as a whole, allowing the team to confirm that the final layout would streamline material handling and eliminate bottlenecks.
This project signals something bigger happening in Texas: sustainability is no longer just a buzzword; it’s becoming the blueprint. With Waller driving the production engine and Houston leading innovation, NaturaPCR is setting a new standard for what a circular economy can look like in the Lone Star State.
Here’s a look at the future of recycling and responsible design. At PRISM, our renderings go beyond selling a vision; they shape smarter, more efficient decisions during project development.
