Print Marketing is Still Important, And Here’s Why

If you’re looking for a way to cut through the noise of digital media, consider focusing your efforts on print marketing.

1. Print media are credible.
Think about the last time you saw a newspaper on a rack or a brochure at the doctor’s office. They likely presented an idea of legitimacy in your head. That’s the beauty of print marketing; people trust it.

2. Print materials are tangible.
Since products such as postcards, fliers and pamphlets are physically tangible, they can stick around your home or office for a while.

3. Print products are more engaging than digital.
People like being able to physically interact with printed materials as opposed to just clicking on online ads. They often engage with them longer, too.

4. Digital marketing has left a gap for print media.
Many marketers have forgone traditional print techniques for cheaper, digital ones. This has left a gap in the market for print media. You can use this blind spot to stand out from your competitors.

5. It’s easy to target specific segments with print marketing.
With print media, you can be specific about the quantity of materials you’re producing and strategically place them to target your audience. For example, if you run a company that sells hair products, you can print enough posters for each hair salon in your target area.

Valentine’s Day presents a perfect opportunity to take advantage of and utilize in your marketing efforts.

1. Use charm in your email marketing.
If your business is active in email marketing, then Valentine’s Day is a great opportunity to swoon customers even more. Don’t be afraid to incorporate a bit of the holiday’s charm into your email’s subject line, content and call to action.

2.Run two-for-one deals.
Valentine’s Day tends to be all about couples, so lean into the trend by running two-for-one deals on your products or services. For instance, incorporate a “buy one, get one free” offer that plays on the idea of being coupled up.

3. Spice up your social media.
Share the spirit of the season with your followers on social media by spicing up your accounts with a bit of Valentine’s Day flair. Post a photo or two about the holiday, and don’t be afraid to get creative and romantic with it.

4. Create a Valentine’s gift guide.
Whether you’re an early shopper or a procrastinator, we all love buying (and getting) gifts for Valentine’s Day. Connect with your customers on a personal level by creating a Valentine’s Day gift guide for them to utilize.

5. Send customers a card.
This might seem a little retro, but sending your customers a physical Valentine’s Day card is a great way to show how much you care. While most brands focus their holiday marketing online, you can stand out from the crowd with a more traditional technique.

The new year brings with it a new business quarter and a blank page full of opportunity for marketers.

1. Set your goals.
First and foremost, set your marketing goals for 2024. What is it you want to accomplish? The best type of goals are S.M.A.R.T.—specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound.

2. Identify your target audience.
Next, identify your target audience. Is it the same as last year? Maybe this year you hope to bring in a new target audience. For example, last year a business focused primarily on middle-aged adults, but this year they hope to expand into young adults.

3. Build a strategy.
Next, build your marketing strategy. Of course, this strategy can change and adapt as the year goes on, but it is beneficial to start out with one from the very beginning. Whether you choose to do your marketing in-house or outsource it is up to you, but having a comprehensive strategy to start working from is a great way to get your marketing off to a good start for the year.

4. Generate new content.
Content marketing is a vital piece of any comprehensive marketing strategy. Put together a calendar and strategy for the new year for the type of content you plan on creating. Perhaps you’ll build a new blog for your business. Or, create a video marketing campaign.

5. Create or clean up your profiles.
Social media marketing, as always, will continue to grow in 2024, so make sure you’re on top of it. If you don’t already have professional social media profiles, create them. If you do have them, clean them up and make sure they properly display your brand.

2024 is here, so make sure you and your professional brand are ready for it. Try some of these tips to start off the new year of marketing on a high note and continue to grow your brand.

Personalizing Your Brand

1.Develop a persona.
The first step to humanizing a brand is to imagine it as an actual human. Visualize the brand as a fictional character, with a human voice, a personality and even a backstory.

2. Show real people.
Then, personalize the brand by showing the real people behind it. When customers see the business as merely a logo, they don’t feel connected to it. However, put your team members in the spotlight, and suddenly customers have a real person they can identify with.

3.Be transparent.
There’s just something refreshing about genuine, honest content on the Internet. Humanize the brand by opening up with it. Be transparent. Jeff Jahn, CEO of DynamiX says, “Make your secret sauce the thing you share the most because it is always what you are most passionate about.”

4.Tell a story.
Everyone loves a good story, including your customers. Storytelling is one of the most personal, human connections we have, so draw customers into the brand by sharing stories with them.

5. Share user content.
When in doubt, personalize the brand by sharing user-generated content. This humanizes the brand in two ways: (1) it flatters the user who has their content featured on your website or social media; (2) it shows other customers that you have great relationships with their peers.

6. Appreciate customers.
Ultimately, draw customers into a personal, human brand by appreciating them from the very beginning. Let your customers know how much you care about them and what their business means to you.

The holidays are almost here, which means it’s the season of giving, cheer and yes… buying.

1. Try out social media ads.
If you or your small business are on social media, try using the holiday season as a way to test out social media advertisements, such as on Facebook or Instagram.

2. Utilize email marketing.
Email is always an effective marketing strategy, so get creative this holiday season by including more personal and cheerful touches in your email marketing.

3. Set up landing pages.
Create valuable landing pages for website visitors and those interested in your product or service. Landing pages can advertise any sales you have over the holidays, and also collect insightful information on your visitors.

4. Send personal holiday cards.
Everyone loves getting holiday cards in the mail, so why not connect with consumers on a more personal level? Send out holiday cards thanking current customers for their business, or promoting your next deal.

5. Give back to a cause.
Like we said, ‘tis the season of giving. Show how much you or your small business care by using the holidays as a chance to give back. Offer up a promotion to consumers where a percentage of every purchase goes toward supporting a local cause.

6. Share a festive video.
Video is quickly becoming the newest and most effective way of marketing. Put together a creative video of you or your employees spreading holiday cheer this season.

7. Throw a holiday party.
Finally, throw a holiday party for everyone involved in the business or your professional life. This might sound expensive, but it doesn’t have to be anything too fancy—and building those relationships now will only continue to give back in the future.

Optimizing User Experience Begins with Your Website

User experience isn’t just essential. It’s everything.

1.User Experience Defined
It’s the act of making your business’s offerings more enjoyable for the user. For a coffee cup manufacturer, improving UX could result in a better handle or keeping a drink hot (or cold) for longer.

2. Make Your Website a User’s Dream

Begin your UX revolution on your website. Your company’s site is the linchpin to everything—digital campaigns, social media, print pieces and even billboards.

Focus on hassle-free ways to complete actions like filling out an interest form, subscribing to a blog or ordering products online.

3. Here are a few easy places to implement UX design:
- Add call to action buttons with clear language indicating what a user can expect after clicking.

- Intake customer feedback on their experience with your site through routine and regular surveys.

-If you haven’t already, cross-promote your social channels and help customers connect with your brand and site through platforms they frequent.

-Ensure you’ve built your site with responsive web design, including a mobile-optimized theme.

5 Reasons Reading Makes You a Better Leader
It turns out, one of the best ways to become a better leader is through consistent reading.

1. Reading improves cognition.
Research conducted by Anne E. Cunningham compared the general knowledge between readers and television watchers. Readers not only knew more information, but were also able to decipher misinformation better than their television counterparts. In other words, reading improved their cognition and judgment, both critical skills for strong leadership.

2. Reading refines communication.
As a leader, great communication is vital in the business community. Fortunately, reading also helps refine and sharpen your communication skills. When we read across a variety of different topics, we pick up new vocabulary to add into our language regime, which then transfers into our speaking and writing.

3. Reading strengthens empathy.
When we read books—particularly fiction books—we have the unique opportunity to walk in someone else’s shoes, experience a new environment and see the world from a completely different perspective. These connections strengthen our ability to empathize with other human beings.

4. Reading provides opportunities.
Even when you look at reading from a career perspective, you can see the variety of benefits it carries, such as providing opportunities. Readers love to share books or articles among themselves.

5. Reading inspires youth.
Research by Keith E. Stanovich has shown that consistent reading as we age keeps our brains young and sharp, which is ideal for those who want to be in business leadership. In fact, some studies even suggest exercising our brains with books and other reading might be able to help prevent conditions like dementia throughout the later years of life.

5 Reasons Your Business Should Sponsor an Event

Whether it’s sponsoring a one-time event, a local sports team or a series of promotions, sponsorship is a great way for your company to market itself in the community.

1. Media Exposure
Nothing quite gets your company’s name out there like the media, and event sponsorship is an easy way to do just that. Big companies who sponsor events like the Olympics, The World Cup and March Madness know that sponsorship works better at marketing than taking out a page ad in a local newspaper or magazine.

2. Positive Image
Event sponsorship promotes your business in a positive image and shows your company cares about different causes. You get the benefit of having your name and image in the limelight, with none of the worry of running the event.

3. Affordability
Advertisements on television and in local print or radio announcements can be expensive. In a typical marketing strategy when these promotions are paired together, the overall price can wind up pretty hefty for your business. But with event sponsorships, you get to negotiate how much you spend.

4. Targeted Audience
Sponsorship allows your company to promote itself to a specific, targeted audience which is aligned with your ideal customer. Before you sponsor an event or organization, do some research into what it stands for and who it would reach out to.

5. Build Relationships
Through sponsorship, your business builds relationships in the community: with other organizations, other companies and most importantly, with potential consumers. When your business builds relationships, it thrives under client leads and new customers.

The Benefits of Supporting Local Businesses
Check out these reasons why going local helps you out in the long run.

1. Strengthen your local economy.
According to Civic Economics, for every dollar you spend at an independent business, 3x more money is returned into the local economy, compared to that spent at a larger chain (50x more compared to an online retailer). This money is going right back into the community you live and work in, helping to support valuable programs for yourself and your family.

2. Create more jobs.
Not only is your local economy strengthened when you shop locally, but you also help to create more jobs. According to the Small Business Administration, the 28 million small businesses in the U.S. have provided 55% of all jobs and 66% of all new jobs since the 1970s.

3. Reduce environmental impact.
Locally owned businesses often make more local purchases for their products, requiring less transportation and outsourcing. They typically consume less land, are located closer to residents and create less traffic and air pollution.

4. Lower your taxes.
Everyone loves lower taxes, and supporting your local businesses can help do just that. With small businesses, more efficient land use and more central locations puts less demand on roads, sewers and safety services. Even more, independent businesses often generate more tax revenue per sales dollar.

5. Improve your family’s health.
When it comes to buying produce and choosing places to eat, local food distributors and restaurants are often the healthier choice for yourself and your family.

When it comes to choosing local businesses, helping the community means helping you, too. Whether it’s aiding the economy now or building a better world for future generations, small businesses are here for you. But first, they need a little support too.

10 Tips for Writing the Perfect Resume

1. Tailor your resume to the job. One tip many job-seekers find is to tailor their resume to the job they’re applying for. Of course, if you include a cover letter, this would be specific to the job as well.

2. Make it your own. Templates are a great way to start working on your resume, but they can get pretty old pretty fast for employers. Make your resume your own by switching it up a bit and help your resume stand out from the pile.

3. Include contact information. You’d think this would be a no-brainer, but you’d be surprised! Be sure to include your contact information at the top of your resume so employers know how to reach you if they’re interested in hiring.

4. Focus on your objective. At the top of your resume, consider including an objective or a summary to give employers a brief overview of what your purpose is in your job search.

5. Share professional experience. First and foremost, list your professional experience. Start with your most recent job, then work your way backward.

6. Talk about volunteering. If you are particularly active with a nonprofit organization, consider including it on your resume. Skills-based volunteering is an excellent way to fill in any employment gaps you may have.

7. List any professional affiliations. If you’re involved in any relevant professional organizations or affiliations, it might also be smart to include those on your resume. Share when you got involved with the organization and any active positions or responsibilities you held.

8. Keep education short. Depending on your age, your education section should be short or not exist at all. Be sure to include where you got your degree and when, and possibly your field of study if relevant.

9. Show organization. Use bullet points, bold font and lines to draw attention to specific areas and make your resume look clean, professional and organized for employers.

10. Be succinct. You’ve probably heard this one before. Generally speaking, resumes should be about one page in length.

Your resume is the first impression most employers get of you, so be sure it is as professional as possible.

Sharing Wellness in the Workplace

1. Create a landscape of open communication.
Open communication in a workplace is vital. This means employees feel comfortable asking questions, voicing concerns and sharing opinions.

2. Organize a wellness committee.
A wellness committee can set the tone for the entire organization. Its main responsibility is to encourage everyone to take better care of themselves by providing healthy snacks, organizing regular social events and challenging individuals to be more active.

3. Get everybody up and moving.
Sitting in one space for too long can have serious consequences on the body, so make an extra effort to encourage employees to move. Organize an after-lunch stretching session or walk. Give staff the option of standing desks or provide a map with walking trails around the neighborhood.

4. Encourage taking off needed time.
Even when we take care of our holistic health within the workplace, we still need a break from work every now and then. Encourage yourself and others to pursue activities outside of work which will fortify your identities.

5. Recognize and praise strengths.
Identify positive traits and strengths within employees for a shared language and to better understand the people working with and around you. Then, use these strengths as a way to recognize small and large achievements in the workplace.

6. Check in regularly and reflect.
Everyone should feel heard within a company. Regular communication will help others be aware of progress being made and issues which will undoubtedly arise in personal or professional spheres.
