Marketing Refresh, founded in 2009, works directly with business leadership teams responsible for growing their revenue. Our clients either don’t have their own marketing team, or need to complement their in-house talents with a more specialized skill set. Marketing Refresh develops digital marketing strategies and execution plans prioritized around business goals. Executives and business owners don’t have time to effectively do their job AND handle the marketing. And, they’re typically not sure what they should focus on, why they should focus on it, how to do it, and how to measure effectiveness. Partner with a team who works hard to understand your business, helps you create a strategy that enables your company to leverage marketing, and “jumps in the boat” with you to execute.

A trade show here. A website update there. A few LinkedIn posts when there’s something worth sharing.

None of those things are bad ideas. The problem starts when they’re all happening separately and no one can explain how they’re supposed to work together.

For manufacturers, a stronger marketing system connects those activities to the way buyers actually research suppliers and move toward a sales conversation.

Our latest article walks through what that can look like.

A marketing report can be completely accurate and still leave leadership wondering what they’re supposed to do with it.

That’s usually the sign that the report is showing activity without giving enough context.

The truth is, your C-suite probably doesn’t need every channel metric. They need to understand what changed, what it means for the business, and whether there’s a decision to make.

Our latest article looks at how to make marketing reports more useful at the executive level.

Q4 is here. (How?!)

That doesn’t mean the goal is to rush through whatever is left in the marketing budget before December.

It is a good time to look at the program again, though.

What changed since the plan was built?
Which priorities still matter most?
Where is marketing actually helping sales?
What should you keep, adjust, or stop?

Use the final quarter to focus resources where they can do the most useful work now, while paying attention to what this year is teaching you about the next one.

AI is changing how buyers research. Search continues to evolve. Leadership wants a clearer connection between marketing and revenue. And most teams are still expected to keep the day-to-day work moving at the same time.

Our newsletter is one way we help make sense of it.

We share practical perspectives on marketing strategy, sales alignment, ex*****on, reporting, and the changes worth paying attention to, without adding more noise for the sake of having something to say.

If those are the conversations happening inside your company, subscribe and stay connected with Marketing Refresh.

By the time an RFP lands in your inbox, the buyer may already know who they want to hear from.

Procurement teams do their homework long before paperwork goes out: checking your website, reviewing past work, asking around at industry events.

- Does your site reinforce what your sales team is already saying?

- Do your case studies give specific proof, not just general capability claims?

- Are you visible when someone searches the exact problem you solve, not just your company name?

Some companies arrive at the RFP stage as an unknown. Others arrive with trust already working in their favor.

Our newest blog looks at what oilfield services companies can do to build that trust before the bid process even starts.

Ask sales what makes your company different. Then ask marketing. Then look at your website.

Would a buyer hear the same story three times? Or would they feel like they're talking to three different companies?

When positioning starts drifting across teams and channels, the buyer has to do a lot of work figuring out what the company actually stands for.

A strong brand gives your buyers a consistent answer to three basic questions:

- Who are you?
- What problem do you solve?
- Why should I trust you to solve it?

A Brand Audit can help reveal where that story is aligned and where it starts to break down.

Traffic is up. Impressions increased. Email engagement looks good. So, is marketing working?

That’s where a lot of reports stop being useful.

Leadership usually isn’t asking for more numbers; they’re trying to understand what marketing is producing for the business.

Is it contributing to qualified opportunities? Are the right accounts engaging? What's influencing pipeline? What needs to change next?

Good reporting should give leadership a clear picture of what happened, why it matters, and what the team recommends doing next. A full report gives you data, but a useful report helps you make a decision.

A small marketing team doesn’t need to own everything, but it also shouldn’t hand everything off.

A valuable question to ask yourself is: where does your internal team create the most value, and where do you need added capacity or specialized expertise?

Your team may be best positioned to own the things that depend heavily on internal knowledge: customer insights, sales feedback, business priorities, subject-matter expertise.

Outside support can make more sense when the work requires deeper channel expertise, more production capacity, or skills your team doesn’t need often enough to build in-house.

What matters most is that everyone is working from the SAME STRATEGY.

Build the system first. Then decide who is best equipped to do each part of the work.

You have the better product. Better engineering. Better lead times. Better people on the shop floor.

And you're still losing bids to a competitor half your size.

That may not be a sales problem. It could actually be a visibility problem.

- Is your best work sitting in a salesperson's memory instead of on your website?

- Would a plant manager researching vendors find proof you've solved their exact problem?

- Does your search presence show up for the specific issue they're trying to solve, not just your industry category?

A ten-person shop with a sharp website and consistent visibility can look more credible online than a hundred-person operation nobody's updated since 2019. Visibility scales with consistency, not headcount.

Our latest blog breaks down what an industrial marketing strategy actually needs to include to close that gap.
