Happy Black History Month!

I am Black History today and every day. I heard from a friend that her kid was told by another kid at school that Black History doesn’t exist. The kid that made that statement also stated that he was opting out of Black History lessons.

OK kid. Go right ahead and insist on being uninformed. When you don’t know history, it repeats itself (we’re experiencing that right now, but I digress.) Because whether someone recognizes it or not, Black History exists. It doesn’t need validation or acceptance. It’s truth. And the people teaching otherwise we hear you. We feel you shaking in your boots because you know it exists too. You know firsthand of it’s power and it’s eternal, divine presence. What you may not know is that you can try your best to bury it, mismanage it, and erase it. However, even in the face of evil it will always rise.

Y’all know I love a good ol’ brand redesign. Grayton works with top-notch clients, providing the highest quality flooring and home interiors. Michael Restifo, owner of Grayton Products, and his Brand Specialist, Gene Montgomery, came to me seeking a website but left with an entirely new brand concept and website.

Now, let’s dive into this new brand concept! After several discussions with Gene and hearing his vision for the brand and the tagline, “Redefining Home,” I developed a stunning design concept that reflects serenity, warmth, durability, and luxury.

The old logo (check the slides) was outdated and needed a modern yet timeless look to match where this fast-growing company is headed. I went with a font that had an Old World charm like the original logo, but chose a logotype that was clean, sleek, and polished—just like Grayton’s owner.

I had so much fun creating the brand board, making sure to include home interior elements that exude the brand’s voice. The color palette features hues inspired by Grayton Beach, echoing the company’s brand story and namesake.
