Plugged your new EV into the garage outlet overnight… and woke up with only about 30 extra miles? 🔌😬
You’re not alone. A standard outlet (Level 1) adds just 2–5 miles of range per hour. That’s fine for a plug-in hybrid or short trips into town. Here in Wayne County, though, the miles add up fast between errands, appointments and drives toward Scranton or Stroudsburg.
Our new blog breaks it down:
🔌 Level 1 (120V): Uses the outlet you already have and needs no install. It adds roughly 22–55 miles overnight.
⚡ Level 2 (240V): About 4–5x faster. It adds roughly 110–220 miles overnight, so you start every day with a full charge.
Quick rule of thumb: If you regularly drive more than about 40 miles a day, Level 1 will slowly fall behind.
One important note: Level 2 can’t plug into a regular outlet. It needs its own dedicated 240V circuit, room in your electrical panel and a permit, installed by a licensed electrician. Older homes often have several things sharing one garage circuit, which isn’t safe for EV charging.
That’s where we come in. Our licensed electricians will check your panel, size the circuit, handle the permit and put the charger right where you park.
