Upgrading “headunits” and stereos back 30 or even 15 years ago… never thought it we would be at this level of tech or integration (complicated) just to get a new functioning headunit in the dash in some of these vehicles 🫣 Flashing firmware, programming modules, and letting the new integration pieces read / sync with the vehiche and the radio. Granted, there are even more extra features and bonus options now through maestro and other platforms, but this one is nearing $1000 in parts just to swap, plus cost of radio and labor 😬

I like the more complicated and technical work. The end user paying the bill typically is less enthusiastic lol but they dont like the dealer estimates to replace their failing OEM systems either 😅

Yep, that’s a 10” sub in the port for a lil extra kick 🔊 when you need it 😁 I bet you are thinking, damn, that wood is thick…yup 1” custom made USA plywood. Not cheap hollow and void ridden cores like the import birch. It is heavvvvvy and dense… killing my back and my saw blades 😓 There is only 12 braces in the box. I hope it holds 🤞🏼🤪 Gauranteed for life you heard? Damn straight 😎

Decades of Car Audio experience…. Can’t believe i am saying this, but JVCKenwood (yes, same exact company) are leading the headunit game for me. 90-95% of the headunits i have sold and installed in my lifetime have been Pioneer… these newer upper level JVC though 🤩 especially the wireless carplay units 😎

Anyhow… Post covid? Pioneer has been a downhill slide… 🥴 Features, performance, reliability… alll on the decline. Nearing 10,000 pioneer headunits installed in my time and residing in the heart of “pioneer country” makes it’s hard to proclaim, but i am now doing more JVC… with less issues and more smiles. I STILL have pioneer options… butttt they put themselves in the back seat 🤷
