The printmaking course course had a great semester learning different techniques. Everyone started their own art collection with a print exchange with their Seven Deadly Sins Drypoint. Advanced Studio also gave a demo on engraving. Bryson has been working on this technique in class to support his studies with engraving at Emporia.

Our ceramic artists this semester have been busy in the studio! Students in Ceramics I & II, and Advanced Studios enjoyed pushing each other in the classroom, throwing, sculpting, and formulating glazes! It always feels like Christmas when a glaze firing is unloaded from the kiln!

We celebrated our Student Honors Show last night, giving our students recognition for their hard work throughout the year and to share what they have created. Our last exhibition every year is our Student Honors Art Exhibit. It’s always a bittersweet moment for the Highland Art Department. We love seeing the culmination of a year of dedication and hard work, but it also signals the end of the sophomore’s journey at Highland.

The show is open from April 16 to May 6th.

Join us Thursday, April 30th between 5:30-7:30PM for our gallery reception for the Student Honors Art Exhibit. We hope you join us to help recognize our student’s talents and support their efforts.
