Grand Island recently committed $1.5M to overhaul facility security. It’s a massive investment, but the real value isn't in the price tag: it’s in the balance between visible deterrence and invisible detection.

The common mistake is over-indexing on cameras. We want to see everything, but cameras are inherently reactive. They tell you what happened after the fact. In sensitive areas like restrooms or private offices, they can't go there at all.

Visible security, like high-resolution cameras, acts as a deterrent and a forensic tool. Invisible security, like v**e sensors and acoustic weapon detection, acts as an early warning system. One documents the incident; the other alerts you to it before it escalates.

A strategic security design uses sensors to fill the gaps that cameras leave behind. It’s about moving from "watching" to "knowing."

If you are evaluating your facility's safety plan, look past the hardware list. Start with the risks you need to mitigate and design around them. What are you prioritizing in your next budget cycle?

06/03/2026

For years, public safety agencies have faced a difficult balancing act.

Citizens expect faster response times, better transparency, improved investigations, and safer communities. At the same time, budgets remain constrained, staffing challenges continue, and legacy security infrastructure often struggles to keep pace with modern threats.

That is why Verkada's recent FedRAMP Moderate Authorization is worth paying attention to. FedRAMP authorization is one of the most rigorous cloud security standards used by the U.S. federal government and represents a major step forward for agencies seeking secure, cloud-managed physical security solutions. The authorization allows federal agencies and contractors to leverage the Verkada Command platform within AWS GovCloud while meeting strict security and compliance requirements.

More importantly, it highlights a larger shift happening across public safety.

The Winston-Salem Police Department's Real Time Crime Center provides an excellent example. By integrating over 2,000 cameras through Fūsus and utilizing Verkada License Plate Recognition, analytics, and investigative tools, officers are able to locate vehicles, investigate incidents, identify leads, and develop actionable intelligence in minutes instead of days. The department has also used the platform to assist in locating missing persons and support investigations with objective, data-driven evidence.

This is what modern public safety should look like:

✔ Real-time situational awareness

✔ Faster investigative workflows

✔ Better use of limited staffing resources

✔ Stronger interoperability between agencies

✔ Cloud-first infrastructure built for the future

Technology will never replace good officers, firefighters, dispatchers, emergency managers, or public works professionals.

But it can give them better information, faster.

The cities, counties, schools, utilities, healthcare systems, and public safety agencies that embrace intelligent infrastructure today will be far better prepared for tomorrow's challenges than those still relying on disconnected legacy systems.

The conversation is no longer whether smart security infrastructure belongs in government.

The conversation is how quickly we can deploy it responsibly.

🚨 You Don't Need Another Security Vendor. You Need a Security Partner. 🚨

Most companies can sell you cameras.

Most integrators can install access control.

Most vendors can hand you a quote and disappear until renewal time.

That's not how we operate.

At SAINT Technology Services, we help organizations build security programs that actually reduce risk, improve response capabilities, and support long-term operational success.

Whether you're a city, county, school district, healthcare facility, utility provider, manufacturer, or private business, security should be built from the foundation up—not sold as a collection of hardware.

What We Actually Do

✅ Security Risk Assessments

✅ Physical Security Infrastructure Reviews

✅ Emergency Response Planning

✅ Business Continuity Planning

✅ Access Control & CCTV Design

✅ Security Technology Consulting

✅ Verkada Design, Deployment & Management

✅ Ongoing Device Monitoring & Maintenance

✅ Lifecycle Management & Documentation

We evaluate your environment, identify vulnerabilities, assess operational risks, and design solutions that fit your mission—not a sales quota.

Thinking About Verkada?

We'll put our money where our mouth is.

Try Verkada FREE for 30 Days.

No obligation.

No pressure.

No complicated contracts.

Not sure what product makes sense?

We'll perform an assessment, review your operational risks, and recommend a solution based on your environment.

Maybe that's a camera.

Maybe it's access control.

Maybe it's environmental monitoring.

Maybe it's visitor management.

We'll help you determine the right fit before spending a dollar.

"Wait... Doesn't Verkada Require Licensing?"

Yes.

Verkada utilizes cloud licensing on a per-device basis, with options including 1-year, 3-year, 5-year and 10-year licensing terms.

But here's where we're different.

Many vendors sell the hardware, sell the license, then try to sell you:

❌ Extended service plans

❌ Premium support contracts

❌ Annual maintenance agreements

❌ Additional consulting hours

❌ Mystery "service pillars"

And you're often left wondering:

"What exactly am I paying for?"

The SAINT Difference

When we quote Verkada licensing, we don't stop there.

We incorporate ongoing support, monitoring, administration, and device management into our service approach.

You know exactly:

✔ What we're doing

✔ What we're monitoring

✔ What we're documenting

✔ What risks we're helping mitigate

✔ What value you're receiving

No smoke.

No mirrors.

No mystery invoices.

Just transparent security management built around your operational needs.

Security Is More Than Hardware

A camera doesn't stop an incident.

An access control system doesn't create a response plan.

A cloud dashboard doesn't build resilience.

People, processes, technology, and planning working together do.

That's why we focus on helping organizations develop security programs that support:

🔹 Life Safety

🔹 Business Continuity

🔹 Emergency Response

🔹 Regulatory Compliance

🔹 Operational Resilience

🔹 Long-Term Risk Reduction

If you're evaluating Verkada, planning a facility upgrade, preparing for an assessment, or simply wondering if your current security investments are actually reducing risk, let's have a conversation.

One thing we’ve never understood in the security industry:

Why are customers expected to pay extra for a vendor to support the very system they designed and installed?

Too often, security projects are built around future service contracts instead of long-term reliability.

The result?

• Expensive maintenance agreements
• Recurring software fees
• Truck roll charges
• Billable support calls
• Vendor lock-in

At SAINT, our philosophy is different.

We design systems to be stable, resilient, and manageable from day one.

We believe your security partner should be focused on reducing downtime, reducing complexity, and reducing costs—not creating additional revenue streams through avoidable service calls.

Do maintenance agreements have a place? Absolutely.

Critical infrastructure, enterprise environments, and highly regulated facilities often require formal support agreements.

But if your entire business model depends on customers purchasing a premium “care plan” just to keep a system functioning properly, perhaps the conversation should be about the quality of the design, implementation, and support strategy in the first place.

The goal isn’t to sell more band-aids.

The goal is to build systems that don’t need them.

That’s the SAINT difference.

The security industry is entering a new era.

For years, cameras recorded events after they happened. Today, physical AI is helping organizations understand what's happening in real time.

Imagine a school identifying a potential threat faster.

Imagine a city gaining greater situational awareness during a major event.

Imagine a manufacturing facility detecting safety concerns before they become incidents.

This is what physical AI looks like when applied responsibly.

Technology alone doesn't make communities safer. The combination of intelligent systems, trained personnel, strong governance, and clear operational procedures does.

As organizations across SLED, healthcare, manufacturing, and critical infrastructure continue to modernize, we're seeing a shift from simply collecting video to generating actionable intelligence.

The question isn't whether AI will become part of physical security.

The question is how organizations will leverage it to improve safety, security, and operational resilience while maintaining public trust.

What use case do you believe will have the biggest impact over the next five years?

What’s that coming toward us on camera?

A golf cart? Nope.

It’s a Mammotion LUBA 2, and it’s quickly becoming one of our favorite pieces of smart home technology. This robotic mower uses GPS, AI vision, and smart scheduling to keep the lawn looking great without spending your weekends behind a mower. It can even work around weather conditions, schedules, and designated mowing zones to automate one of the most time-consuming outdoor chores.

Now imagine taking it one step further.

☀️ Smart irrigation systems that monitor weather conditions
🌧️ Rain sensors that delay watering when Mother Nature has already done the job
📱 Remote control and monitoring from your phone
🤖 Robotic mowing that keeps your lawn maintained automatically

That’s the future of the smart home, and it’s already here.

At SAINT Technology Services, we love helping property owners use technology to save time, reduce water waste, and spend less time maintaining their yard and more time enjoying it.
