Thick paper has dense cellulose fibers. When you fold heavy cover stock (100 lb+ or 14pt+) without pre-scoring, those fibers snap, creating unsightly white tears and chipped toner. Commercial guillotines cut through hundreds of cardstock sheets simultaneously. To ensure slight paper shifts never trim off your essential info, always follow the "Safe Zone" rule: keep all critical text, phone numbers, and logos at least 0.125 inches (1/8") away from the final trim cut line.

Planning an annual report or product catalog? Don't get caught by the "Rule of 4."

One of the most common file setup delays we see with saddle-stitched booklets is an odd page count! Because saddle-stitching involves folding sheets of paper in half and stapling the spine, every single folded sheet creates exactly 4 numbered pages. If your document is 14 pages, you’ll end up with two blank pages at the back. Always plan your booklet layout in multiples of 4 (e.g., 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, etc.)!
