What does 'Iterate' do under 'View Prompt and Sources' in NotebookLM?

You generate a great study guide or data table, and realize one section is missing. You end up wasting hours trying to recreate the original and remembering your prompt and settings. Use the new Iterate feature instead.

The Artifact Revision Blueprint:
- Locate the ellipses or the top-left on your active artifact.
- Select the prompt and source to pull up your generation settings.
- Use the Iterate function to load your original configurations.
- Input specific corrective prompts to remove broken sections or include missing topics.
- Review the updated layout variants side by side without losing your original template format.

Some thoughts:
- NotebookLM loves to hide new features.
- If you are looking at a data table, the link floats in a slightly different spot than it does on an infographic layout.
- You may have to hunt down the little link.

Google Is Shutting Down Some Gemini Models

A few of Gemini's models are about to hit retirement.

If you are directly accessing Google’s models via API calls or running custom scripts to handle your daily operations, you are likely sitting on a ticking compliance clock.

Google is shutting down and retiring some of its most popular legacy models. If your workflow is still pointing to Gemini 2.5 Pro or the classic Imagen models when the deadline hits, your custom applications may stop working.

The Model Migration Blueprint:
- Audit the Stack: Check every third-party script, API connection, and automation string to see exactly which model names you have hardcoded.
- Identify the Deadlines: Mark August 17th for the Imagen 4.0 lineup and October 16th for the Gemini 2.5 Pro and Flash models.
- Map the Upgrades: Swap legacy strings out for their official 2026 successors. Gemini 3.1 Pro Preview replaces 2.5 Pro, while Gemini 3.1 Flash Image takes over for the entire Imagen family.
- Test the Endpoints: Deploy the new model endpoints inside a staging environment to catch errors before the retirement dates.

Canvas Is Gone In GPT-5.5

Why did your ChatGPT Canvas button vanish?

Apparently, OpenAI officially removed Canvas from the GPT-5.5 instant and thinking models when it was updated back in May.

The Workaround Blueprint:
- Check Account Status: Ensure you are using a paid tier that retains model configuration permissions.
- Open Model Selector: Open your model drop-down menus and choose the configuration panel.
- Select An Older Model: Switch from GPT-5.5 back down to legacy GPT-5.4 or GPT-5.3.
- Restore Interface Tools: Click your attachment utilities to verify that the original Canvas workspace is functional again.

Some thoughts I'll share:
- Do not get too comfortable with this workaround
- OpenAI is notoriously aggressive about retiring older models, usually sunsetting legacy versions two to three months after the newest one drops.
- When these older models hit the graveyard, your temporary Canvas access goes with them.
- Treat this as a short-term fix while you build out an independent alternative ecosystem.

Verify OpenAI-Generated Images

OpenAI recently confirmed they are layering Google DeepMind’s invisible SynthID watermarks directly into ChatGPT, Codex, and API outputs.

Along with that confirmation comes an early public verification tool meant to check content provenance.

I'll run a live diagnostic to see if this platform can actually identify AI-generated images created in OpenAI vs. Google.

The Image Provenance Blueprint:
- Access the Research Preview: Navigate directly to the early public verification interface.
- Verify Formats: Check your assets against the supported file types (PNG, JPG, WEBP).
- Upload Image: Drop your file into the scanner to parse for embedded cryptographic metadata.
- Interpret the Results: Distinguish between a clean "No signals detected" response and a confirmed green checkmark matching OpenAI infrastructure.

Some thoughts:
- Don't treat this like a universal shield against generative slop.
- If you feed this tool an asset created by Google Gemini or Midjourney, it won't detect any signals at all.
- It doesn’t scan for general AI artifacts. It only looks for OpenAI's specific, invisible corporate passport
- It is currently labeled as a research preview. That means it might perform slowly, change without notice, or completely disappear tomorrow when development priorities shift.

NotebookLM's Biggest Update Yet

Google just announced a massive overhaul for NotebookLM. Moving toward an agentic ecosystem powered by Gemini 3.5 and the Antigravity platform.

The Agentic Research Blueprint:
- Secure Cloud Compute: Notebooks will have their own sandboxed virtual machine. This allows the AI to write and execute code natively for deep data analysis.
- 100+ Software Skills: Google is adding software capabilities directly into the chat interface.
- Multi-Format Artifacts: You can generate complex asset types like SVGs, CSVs, JSON, and layout graphics via Nano Banana directly in the side panel.
- Live Web Grounding: The chat bar will soon pull answers from outside sources using Google Search, with an option to import those external discoveries back into your notebook.

A few thoughts:
- The appeal of NotebookLM has always been that it doesn't wander off onto the wild web.
- If you have hundreds of sources in your notebook, and then you go through hundreds of web pages, and then it's going to make a 10, 20, 30 page report, it's very likely that it's going to run out of context window.
- When this rolls out, it hits Ultra users first.
- Keep a close eye on your source counts or prepare for errors.
