Just want to make a Happy Anniversary shout out to one of my all-time favorite games; No Man's Sky. 10 years ago NMS launched on PC and PS4, and not going to lie it was a rough one. A lot of shortfalls for the ambitious goals set for itself as a procedurally generated Open-Universe adventure through the stars; empty-feeling worlds, no real direction for objectives and you technically didn't even have a body. In less than 2 years Hello Games completely turned things around and was able to deliver on many of the promises that were made at launch and finally ported over to Xbox, and now in 2026, 10 years from Day 1, No Man's Sky has had over 20 large-scale updates and zero paid DLC or micro-transactions to make it one of the best comeback stories in gaming history. I encourage anyone who is even remotely interested in the game to pick up a copy, especially if tou can snag a physical copy because doing so let's you play offline, which is rare these days. If you buy a PS4 physical copy, i encourage you to play it offline, as-delivered on the disc to get an amazing before and after experience. The OG game makes you feel the isolation and vastness of space, being a tiny speck of stardust in the cosmos, then after updating the game feels so vibrant and alive with a (largely) friendly community of players that you can run into far more frequently at the Nexus Hub.
Here's to No Man's Sky and hopefully several more years of fantastic content. I can't wait to see what HG's next game Light No Fire has to offer, but until then I'll see you in the stars.
