Here at theCoderSchool we provide two summer coding camp options each week! This week, we are teaching campers how to use Roblox Studio to create their own games alongside students creating games in Scratch and Python. Next week, campers will explore the world of Minecraft by modifying, creating, and coding their own Minecraft worlds! Campers will also be learning about AI and how to make games using AI.

Why coding is essential in the AI world:

1) Logic - Coding is the art of logical thinking
Coding isn't about how a technology works as much as it's about forcing critical and logical thinking skills to rise up. Students develop skills that help with school, careers, and even everyday problem-solving

2) Growth - Software jobs will grow, not shrink
Yes, AI makes building software faster and cheaper — but cheaper doesn't shrink demand, it explodes it. More software will get built across every industry, and more people will be needed to build it.

3) Fundamentals - Coding is fundamental in technology
Everyone will use AI to build things, but there's a difference between using it and truly understanding what you're building. Just as astronauts learn math and surgeons take Biology 101, tomorrow's technologists need the basics first — starting with code.

For the 3rd year in a row, Dominic '31 placed in the top five nationally, for his age, in the Coder Games competition. Dominic started coding in 2020 and is proficient in many languages, with Python being his favorite. The Coder Games competition is sponsored by The Coder School, which he attends weekly. He also works there as a camp assistant during the summers, teaching coding to other kids.
