The June jobs report tells a story most headlines are missing.
57,000 jobs added — about half of what was expected. But look closer and the number isn't the story. Two sectors carried the entire gain: Professional & Business Services (+36K) and Healthcare (+22K). Everything else? Flat or falling.
Manufacturing: flat. Logistics & warehousing: little change. Meanwhile, 7.6 million jobs sit open across the country, with healthcare and social assistance alone accounting for 1.47 million vacancies.
The takeaway isn't that the labor market is slowing down. It's that it's splitting — and the sectors with the most openings are the same ones struggling to find qualified workers to fill them.
At Niktor, we place workers across the sectors where the gap is real — healthcare, manufacturing, aerospace, and logistics. If your open roles have been sitting longer than they should, let's talk about what's actually possible right now.
