📷 If you've been told your coffee table book has to fit a standard size—you've been talking to the wrong printer.

This is one of the most common limitations authors and photographers hit when they start shopping for a printer. POD platforms and many digital printers offer a fixed menu of sizes. If your vision for the book doesn't fit that menu, the answer is usually "we can't do that" or "you'll need to redesign."

For a coffee table book, that limitation matters more than almost any other format. These books are meant to be oversized, visually commanding, and built around the photography or artwork they contain. Forcing that content into a standard trim size doesn't just compromise the design—it undermines the entire point of the book.

Offset printing on large-format sheet-fed presses removes that constraint. At PRC Book Printing, we produce coffee table books in virtually any size or format—oversized dimensions, custom trim sizes, premium paper stocks that do photography and fine art justice, and finishing options like soft-touch lamination, spot UV, and foil stamping that make a cover as impressive as what's inside.

Superior color accuracy on Heidelberg presses means your images print with the vibrancy and detail they deserve—not compressed and flattened by a digital press optimized for text.

If you have a vision for a book that doesn't fit a standard template, we're the printer to call.

📚 Summer reading programs don't just accept any book. And the ones doing the selecting can tell the difference the moment they pick yours up.

School librarians, program coordinators, and literacy organizations handling summer reading lists are evaluating books the same way bookstore buyers do. Durable binding that holds up to dozens of young readers. Color reproduction that does the illustrations justice. Construction that doesn't fall apart by August.

POD books routinely fail this evaluation—not because of the story, but because of the printing. Thin pages, inconsistent color, covers that curl after a few weeks of handling. These aren't books designed to circulate through a summer program. They're designed to ship one at a time and arrive looking acceptable. That's a different standard.

Children's books built for schools, libraries, and reading programs need offset print quality. Heidelberg press color accuracy that makes illustrations vivid and consistent copy to copy. Durable binding—hardcover or softcover—built to be opened and closed hundreds of times. Safety-compliant soy-based inks and aqueous coatings that meet children's product standards.

At PRC Book Printing, that's exactly what we produce. And with domestic turnaround running 2–5 weeks from proof approval, there's still time to have books ready for summer program submissions.

Don't let the printing be the reason your book doesn't make the cut.

🎤 Conference season is here—and if you're planning to sell or distribute books at an industry event, the window to order is shorter than you think.

Here's what catches authors and speakers off guard every year. They wait until 3–4 weeks before the event to place a print order, assume it'll be fine, and end up either scrambling with a POD batch that looks noticeably different from copy to copy—or worse, showing up empty-handed.

A table full of professionally printed books does something a digital download or a POD copy can't. It signals authority. Attendees who pick up your book at a conference are holding a credential. The weight, the cover finish, the binding quality—all of it communicates whether you're worth taking seriously before they've read a word.

Domestic offset production at PRC Book Printing runs 2–5 weeks from proof approval. That's enough lead time to get it right—consistent quality across every copy, a digital proof before the full run, and all-inclusive pricing with free shipping to your door so there are no budget surprises two weeks before your event.

If you have a conference, summit, or trade show on the calendar this season, now is the time to lock in your print order.

✝️ Churches and ministries pour enormous care into the words inside their books. The printing should reflect that same care on the outside.

Whether it's a devotional for a congregation, a hymnal for a choir, a small group study guide, or a commemorative ministry history—the physical quality of the book communicates something before a single page is read. A flimsy binding, inconsistent printing, or covers that don't hold up to weekly use sends an unintentional message about the value of what's inside.

The challenge most churches and ministries face is finding a printer who can handle specialty formats—lay-flat binding for hymnals and study guides used repeatedly, durable softcover or hardcover construction for books meant to last years, and full-color printing for devotionals and gift books without the per-unit cost that makes larger quantities feel out of reach.

At PRC Book Printing, we work with churches, ministries, and faith-based organizations nationwide. Hardcover and softcover options. Lay-flat binding for books that need to stay open in someone's hands. Premium finishing options including foil stamping and embossing for covers that honor the weight of the message inside. All-inclusive pricing with free shipping to continental US starting at 500 copies.

Your congregation deserves a book that feels as meaningful as the words it carries.

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their stories — and the freedom they secured — are part of every page of America's history.

From all of us at PRC Book Printing, thank you to the fallen and the families who carry their memory forward.

Here's the Facebook post using the Problem-Cause-Solution / Story-Based format:

🚀 You hit your Kickstarter goal. Backers are excited. Now comes the part that can make or break everything—the print quality of what actually shows up at their door.

Crowdfunded book projects live and die on the unboxing moment. Backers didn't just buy a book. They funded a vision. When that book arrives and feels cheap, prints dull, or has a cover that's already curling—the disappointment hits harder than a standard retail purchase. And it goes public fast.

The mistake most first-time Kickstarter authors make is treating printing as the last decision instead of one of the first. They lock in their fulfillment timeline, then scramble to find a printer who can hit it—and end up with whatever POD platform is fastest rather than what their campaign actually deserves.

Here's what we recommend instead: build your printing timeline into your campaign from the start. Domestic offset production at PRC Book Printing runs 2–5 weeks from proof approval. That's enough runway to get it right—proper color reproduction on Heidelberg presses, a digital proof before the full run, quality inspection before anything ships, and all-inclusive pricing with no hidden fees that throw off your backer budget.

Your backers took a chance on your project. The printed book is how you prove they were right to.

Self-publishing gives authors incredible flexibility — but many successful books eventually outgrow Print-on-Demand limitations. As sales increase, authors often discover that POD printing can create higher per-book costs, slower fulfillment, limited paper options, and fewer premium finishing choices compared to offset printing. That’s why many growing independent authors make the “POD-to-offset leap” once they’re ready for larger print runs, bookstore distribution, crowdfunding fulfillment, or improved profit margins. PRC Book Printing helps self-published authors transition from small-run POD production to professional offset printing with custom formats, premium finishes, color accuracy, and scalable production designed for long-term publishing growth.

📖 You can have a beautifully designed cover, great content, and the right paper stock—and your book can still feel wrong to read. Margins are usually why.

Interior margins are one of those details that readers feel without knowing what they're reacting to. Text that runs too close to the spine is hard to hold open without cracking the binding. Text that crowds the outer edge feels cramped and tiring to read. Pages that aren't balanced look amateurish even when the writing is excellent.

The cause of most margin mistakes is designing for the screen instead of the physical book. What looks centered and clean in your layout software doesn't automatically account for how pages curve toward the spine in a bound book, how the gutter eats into your inside margin, or how page thickness affects where text actually lands when the book is open in someone's hands.

The inside margin needs more space than the outside margin. The top and bottom margins affect reading pace and perceived quality. These aren't aesthetic preferences—they're functional specifications that change based on your page count, trim size, and binding type.

At PRC Book Printing, our pre-press team reviews interior layout before production starts and flags margin issues before they become 1,000 printed copies of a problem. We explain what needs to change and why, in plain language, before anything goes to press.

📚 If you're printing a hardcover book, the dust jacket decision matters more than most authors realize—and it's worth thinking through before you finalize your specs.

Here's how to approach it.

A dust jacket does two things. First, it protects the cover board underneath from scuffs, moisture, and handling wear—which matters for books meant to last decades on a shelf. Second, it gives you a separate, full-bleed design surface with enormous creative flexibility. Foil stamping, spot UV, soft-touch lamination, bold photography—a dust jacket can carry finishes that would be difficult or cost-prohibitive to apply directly to a cloth or printed case cover.

The tradeoff is practical. Dust jackets slip, get lost, and show wear with frequent handling. For children's books or anything meant for heavy use, a printed case cover with lamination often holds up better over time. For literary fiction, memoirs, coffee table books, and anything sold through retail or library channels—a dust jacket signals quality and opens design options that elevate the entire package.

At PRC Book Printing, hardcover options include dust jackets, cloth covers, leatherette covers, and printed case covers with a full range of finishing options. Our team helps you choose what fits your book, your budget, and how your readers will actually use it.
