is making serious moves in , and the data backs it up!

❇️ In total knee arthroplasty (TKA), one study with 60 patients compared AI-based 3D planning with traditional 2D X-ray methods.

The AI group saw significantly higher accuracy in predicting prosthesis size, valgus correction angle, and hip-knee-ankle alignment.

❇️ In spine surgery, a study on 208 pedicle screw placements found that AI-assisted planning achieved 85.1% Grade A (no cortical breach) accuracy, compared to just 64.9% with freehand placement.

❇️ In total hip arthroplasty (THA), AI consistently outperformed traditional 2D templating in prosthesis size prediction.

The future of orthopedics is here, and it's powered by AI.

3D printing is moving fast in orthopedics.

It’s not only about design freedom but also the advanced materials powering it.

Magazine | OMTEC Expo highlighted in a recent article that options like , , and are driving innovation by expanding what implants can do and how they interact with the body.

Bioceramics like hydroxyapatite and tricalcium phosphate bring stability, bone-forming properties, and resorbability, allowing bone to gradually replace the implant.

Tantalum is also gaining attention for its role in load-bearing designs, while resorbable polymers continue to push possibilities forward.

For companies building patient-specific solutions, these advancements create new possibilities to design implants that can potentially integrate more naturally with the body.

Which of these materials do you think will shape the next wave of orthopedic innovation?

Trauma market 𝗧𝗢𝗣𝗦 $𝟵𝗕 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰: What’s next for 2025?

A few things stood out in the recent ORTHOWORLD Inc. article on the trauma market:

👉 Global trauma sales crossed US$9 billion in 2024. Projections point to US$9.4B in 2025, and growing further to ~US$10.7B by 2028.

👉 Foot & ankle remains one of the most-watched segments. The segment (worth over US$5B across its sub‐areas) is still attractive for M&A and innovation.

Big M&A moves are reshaping portfolios in this space. Zimmer Biomet’s acquisition of Paragon 28 (US$1.2B) has significantly boosted its foot & ankle presence.

👉 Core trauma is having a moment. Less elective, more essential, innovation (both in product design and support programs) plus, focused strategy, are helping companies like Stryker scale in this space.

👉 Smaller players are carving out leadership in niche segments (for example, OrthoPediatrics).

A 2025 report by Precedence Research indicates that the global foot and ankle devices market is on a steady climb.

It is projected to grow from $𝟱.𝟰𝟮𝗕 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟱 𝘁𝗼 𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 $𝟵.𝟵𝗕 𝗯𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟯𝟰 𝗮𝘁 𝗮 𝗖𝗔𝗚𝗥 𝗼𝗳 𝟲.𝟵𝟰%.

North America, led by the U.S., holds the largest share, with the U.S. market alone valued at $1.75B in 2024 and expected to double by 2034.

What’s driving this growth?

📌 An aging population.

📌 Rising sports and trauma injuries.

📌 Increasing cases of diabetes and osteoarthritis.

📌 Adoption of advanced surgical technologies, including patient-specific solutions.

While most market data groups all advanced foot & ankle devices together, demand for personalized implants is clearly growing.

With innovations like 3D printing, robotic surgery, and minimally invasive techniques, surgeons have more tools than ever to improve fit, precision, and recovery times.

At Enhatch, we’re excited about how technology can make foot and ankle care more accurate, efficient, and personalized — helping patients get back on their feet faster.

is rewriting the map in , literally!

An article published in Medical Design & Outsourcing mentions researchers at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) that have launched an AI-powered tool that makes tumor mapping sharper, faster, and more scalable.

Scientists can now spot subtle changes in cancer tissues and track how therapies affect different cell populations, all while using data from much larger patient groups.

AI in healthcare is bringing the power to pinpoint, personalize, and ultimately improve how we fight disease.

Researchers at Oregon Health & Science University’s Knight Cancer Institute have developed a machine-learning tool that uses standard bulk sequencing data to estimate the mix of cell types in tumor tissue.

𝗦𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗴𝗴𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗳𝘆 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻? AI may have the answer!

One of the promising applications of AI in orthopedics is identifying previously implanted devices before a revision procedure.

According to the article "𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗔𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗢𝗿𝘁𝗵𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝘀" on OrthoFeed a recent study published in Arthroplasty showed that a deep learning model was able to predict the type of knee implant with 99% accuracy.

This level of precision can save valuable time during pre-op planning and improve efficiency during surgery.
