Windows 10 is now another operating system of the past... With security a top priority, you should be using Windows 11. If not, call Kay and let's talk about getting a new computer. A few people were able to upgrade their Windows 10 but not enough and now with higher prices they cost more than ever like everything else! Just glad they are smaller now than the one in my photo! I hauled many of them around in my day!

So, this morning I decided to again Google about all the restaurants/bars in Aberdeen charging debit cards the 3% fee. Here is what Google said. "It is generally illegal in the U.S. for merchants to add a surcharge to debit card transactions. While surcharges are permitted for credit cards (usually capped around 3-4% and requiring disclosure), they are explicitly prohibited for debit/prepaid cards by network rules." We need to start complaining or turn them in? They are making lots of money off us when you add it all together and they are charged a much lower rate for debit cards. Not a lot per person but it is the principal of it. If the restaurant will not remove the charge, call your bank and report it and they will remove the charge. If reported too many times, they will be in trouble.. Do your own research.

I often get asked about classes for learning about computers. The Aberdeen Public Library has them twice a week. If asked maybe they have a list of what is being taught at each one. This might be very helpful for those wishing to learn more.

Has your NVC email lately had many emails that look like they are from them? Well, If you open the email and look at the email address you will see that they are a scam. They want your email password and then from there they can hack and change passwords on other accounts you use including your bank. If you have mistakenly clicked on one of these emails, please call NVC and have them change your password. And remember, never click on links in your email unless you are absolutely sure or expecting it. Stay safe, lots of scams!

Please keep a password book! If you upgrade your computer, it sure does make life easier! Write everything down even the answers to your security questions. You can buy a password book or use an address book or even a small notebook. Anything! Keeping your passwords all in one place and up-to-date. So if you change a password, be sure to update your book. If something happens to you, this will also make life easier for your family! Start one today! And if you don't know a password, it may need to be changed anyway so you can enter it in your book. Also, be sure to use different passwords on each site and make sure each one is unique!
