Today, we join in celebrating Juneteenth, a significant milestone in American history. On this day, we commemorate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and reflect on the important of freedom, equality, and unity.

Juneteenth serves as a reminder to us all to continue fostering an environment where everyone feels respected, valued and empowered.

Juneteenth is an often overlooked event in our nation’s history. On June 19, 1865, Union troops freed enslaved African Americans in Galveston Bay and across Texas some two and a half years after President Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation.

Last week, one of our software engineers Stephanie Cushing volunteered with the Dottie Rose Foundation's summer camp.

The camp consisted of a group of middle school girls that used Spike Prime Lego Robotics to work through iterations that they had to debug, test, and retest to complete builds and challenges. The campers combined engineering principles and computer science as they learned to code their Spike Prime builds. Stephanie even got to show the campers what code can look like in the real world!

The Dottie Rose Foundation's mission is to "connect the dots within technology and computer science sphere to educate, support, and inspire the next generation."

Here at Orange Bees, we value each and every one of our employees. In an effort to recognize employees who have stood out and taken that extra step forward, we are presenting our next nominee: Emily King!

Kennedy Barner, Operations Manager, nominated Emily King, Project Coordinator, for exemplifying two of the Orange Bees core values – Respect & Professionalism and Never Sacrifice Quality. Kennedy explains, "Since starting at Orange Bees last May, Emily has always treated everyone both internally and externally with utmost respect and always presents herself very professionally. It is hard to choose just one example of this, as this is something that Emily does day in and day out, without thinking twice about it. Additionally, no matter what the task is – big or small – Emily always goes above and beyond to ensures that her delivered work is top quality. She has been such a wonderful addition to the team and, in less than a year, has added an immeasurable amount of value to Orange Bees!"

James McGreggor, VP of Engineering, also nominated Emily stating, "I would also like to highlight Emily in relation to our core value of Keep Learning. Changing careers and stepping into a new role can be challenging for anyone but doing so in a role that was continually evolving makes it exponentially harder. Regardless, Emily faced every challenge head on, fully taking ownership and learning everything that she could, quickly becoming an expert on the topics that she is responsible for. In less than a year, she has become a team member that I highly depend on and trust."

Jamie states, "Phil has designed countless architectural systems in the fourth quarter while considering all the client needs and deadlines. He always inhabits the clients' shoes and designs systems that are both advantageous for both Orange Bees and our customers." James adds, "When it comes to the value of Never Sacrifice Quality, there is not necessarily one thing that I would point out that Phil does, because everything he does is always of the highest level of quality. From architecture to documentation, you can be sure that Phil has crafted a high quality and thorough solution.
