The best way to prepare for the changes AI search is bringing is by becoming the kind of company AI, and more importantly, your buyers, can understand and trust.

That means consistently:
• Answering the questions your buyers are asking
• Demonstrating real expertise
• Creating genuinely useful content
• Building authority around the problems you solve
• Helping buyers long before they're ready to talk to sales

Those aren't new marketing principles.

The companies that benefit will be the ones that have spent time building a clear point of view, sharing their expertise, and becoming a trusted resource in their market.

And that's why preparing for AI search shouldn't exist separately from your demand generation strategy. Done well, they're working toward the same goal:
Be useful enough to be found. Be credible enough to be trusted. And be memorable enough to be considered when the buyer is ready.

Traditional search gave buyers a list of results to their query to perform their own research. AI models fundamentally work differently.

Tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity can synthesize information from multiple sources and deliver an answer directly to the user.

You're no longer just competing to appear on a results page. You're competing to become part of the answer.

That changes how B2B companies need to think about visibility. Ranking still matters, but so does creating clear, authoritative content that helps AI systems understand:

• What your company does
• What problems you solve
• Who you solve them for
• What expertise you bring to the topic
• Why your perspective should be trusted

Is your brand and expertise represented when AI answers the questions your buyers are asking?

One of the biggest misconceptions about ABM is that a smaller target list automatically leads to better results.

But the reality is most of the accounts you target aren't actively buying today.

That's why an ABM strategy built around a small list can become difficult to sustain. You're investing significant time, budget, and resources into accounts where only a small percentage will be in-market at any given moment.

For many B2B organizations, supplementing with a broader demand generation strategy is the more scalable approach.

It allows you to:
• Reach more qualified accounts before they're actively shopping.
• Build familiarity over time so your brand is known when buying intent emerges.
• Generate a larger pool of in-market opportunities without relying on a handful of target accounts.
