A recent investigation into a light aircraft crash in Gloucestershire revealed that the preliminary investigation traced the cause to a 3d printed part that softened and collapsed under engine heat, leading to a loss of power and a crash landing. This incident isn’t about whether 3D printing works. It is about using the right material for the right application:

-Thermal properties matter. Materials like PLA or other low-temperature polymers can soften far below the heat encountered near engines.
-Validation and testing are essential. This is especially important for safety-critical parts used in aerospace or high-stress environments.
