Here's a note on the Sydney slaughter from fellow Australian Mike Claydon, producer of The Israel Report.
Australians awoke this morning to confusion, misunderstanding, grief and global dislocation as news filtered out that 16 people, including children, had been murdered and a further 20 severely injured at Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach as they attended Hanukkah celebrations, perpetrated by an Islamic father and son late Saturday evening.
We are not, by and large, an anti-Semitic nation as we are being labelled globally by the leaders of many nations this morning, including Israel.
We are more an “apathetic” nation. We have slumbered as Islam, the enemy of western civilization, Judaism, Christianity and the Jews was welcomed into our land and settled in vast numbers. We turned a blind eye and a deaf ear to their threats of violence and ambitions of political dominance.
We voted into political power people with an historic hatred of Israel, and the Jews. We deluded ourselves into thinking this was a religion of “peace” and that old hatreds would be forgotten in preference for a life of wealth and recreation.
We stood by as activists marched in our cities calling for the land of Israel to be divided and for the Jews to be gassed once more.
Outside of our major cities millions of Aussies of European heritage live peaceably alongside many from other nations and religions who have no knowledge of the family feud now in progress in the Middle East and across the globe.
Australia is at its base secular. The Bible largely unread or taught, let alone any knowledge of the scriptures of other religions. Why an Arab would want to kill a Jew is a mystery to most.
Why so many are fighting tooth and nail over a microscopic piece of land situated among a sea of Arab nations has many shaking their heads. Most would have trouble locating so-called ”Palestine” on a map.
No amount of inquiry, investigation, surveillance, and political hand wringing is going bring the root cause of this conflict to light.
Both these men were known to Australian Federal Police and they legally possessed six powerful rifles.
To simply write-off the reason for this latest atrocity as antisemitism is an attempt to diminish its impact, a grasp to label it all as solvable by legislation and more restrictive and ineffective gun laws.
We have entered into the final stages of a war being conducted in the heavens and simultaneously here on planet earth. A spiritual war, a war for possession of this creation - the “god’ of this world, or the God of Israel.
It has little or nothing to do with the individual hatred for Jewry, but Satan’s hatred for Israel’s Messiah, whose imminent return will seal his fate for ever.
This is the culmination of the feud between Isaac and Ishmael, Jacob and Esau, and nothing will stand in the way of its fulfillment.
As the Romans welcomed the Barbarians into their cities and finally discovered their mistake when it was far too late, Aussies this morning are facing a similar situation.
