The time between vulnerability disclosure and exploitation keeps getting shorter. The time enterprises need to safely test and deploy patches hasn't changed nearly as much.
Microsoft is warning that attackers can now exploit critical vulnerabilities within hours, creating a dangerous gap between knowing you're vulnerable and actually being able to patch.
Their recommendation puts greater emphasis on the network during that window: segmentation, traffic controls, WAF/IPS policies, and temporary isolation can help contain exposure while remediation is underway. Patching remains essential, but organizations increasingly need a way to reduce risk before the patch can safely reach production.
An important shift in how we think about vulnerability management.

Azure networking executive Igor Sakhnov says enterprises must reduce exposure before patches are deployed as attackers outpace remediation.
