The time between vulnerability disclosure and exploitation keeps getting shorter. The time enterprises need to safely test and deploy patches hasn't changed nearly as much.

Microsoft is warning that attackers can now exploit critical vulnerabilities within hours, creating a dangerous gap between knowing you're vulnerable and actually being able to patch.

Their recommendation puts greater emphasis on the network during that window: segmentation, traffic controls, WAF/IPS policies, and temporary isolation can help contain exposure while remediation is underway. Patching remains essential, but organizations increasingly need a way to reduce risk before the patch can safely reach production.

AI infrastructure is starting to push data center design into territory where traditional cooling simply can't keep up.

Cisco is expanding its Secure AI Factory with NVIDIA architecture to include Supermicro's high-density liquid- and air-cooled systems. The reason is practical: modern AI systems such as NVIDIA's NVL72 can exceed 200 kW per rack, making liquid cooling a system-level requirement.

What's interesting is the rack-to-fabric approach—pairing liquid-cooled compute with liquid-cooled Cisco networking while integrating security, observability, and management into the broader architecture.

AI can generate a tremendous amount of work. That doesn't necessarily mean it's generating the same amount of value.

CIO examines reports that Meta reconsidered plans to significantly reduce staffing on some teams after internal results showed a striking disconnect: code changes were up 220% year over year, while changes resulting in new or improved features reaching users were up only 36%.

That's an interesting measurement problem for every organization adopting AI. Are we measuring AI activity, or are we measuring better business outcomes?

Subscriptions and token consumption are only part of the equation. Cloud infrastructure, orchestration, governance, model selection, employee usage and even the time spent reviewing AI output can materially change the economics of an AI initiative. CIO reports that one organization found the actual AI service bill represented only about 30% of its total cost.

Some of the vulnerabilities attackers exploit most successfully aren't new or particularly sophisticated. In fact, CISA says many should have been eliminated decades ago.

Looking at 2024 and 2025 data, CISA found familiar weaknesses like improper input validation, path traversal and command injection continue to show up prominently among known exploited vulnerabilities. Seven of the 10 most frequent weakness types in 2025 were considered preventable problems as far back as 2007.

That's a useful reminder that cybersecurity progress still depends heavily on getting the fundamentals right — and on vendors building security into software from the beginning.

AI is getting very good at finding vulnerabilities. The uncomfortable question is whether organizations can fix them just as quickly.

Vulnerability disclosures are already growing rapidly, while the systems used to enrich, prioritize, and remediate them are struggling with the volume. AI could widen that gap even further.

The challenge for security teams is shifting from simply finding vulnerabilities to determining which ones actually affect the business, which pose the greatest risk, and how quickly they can be remediated.

More vulnerabilities discovered isn't necessarily more security if remediation can't keep pace.
