Meet Dan! He joined Quantum Leap as of March 28, 2022 coming from a Carrier background. If you have been lucky enough to work with him, you already know that his smile is contagious. Job Title: VOIP Technician

We are looking for an Energetic, Motivated and Responsible person with a Positive Attitude to join our Team as a Voice Over IP (VOIP) Technician. Our culture is one of collaboration and teamwork which will provide a stable foundation to build a career.
A successful employee at Quantum Leap Communications, Inc (www.qlmi.com) will share in our Core Values while focusing their daily efforts on team building and accomplishing installation or service tasks. The ideal candidate will also have great troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
• Develop positive relationships with our Quantum Leap team and our Customers
• Install, Troubleshoot, and Repair on-premise and cloud VOIP phone systems
• Work with IT managers, System Administrators, and third-party IT companies on networks, desktops, and VM servers as they relate to the VOIP systems or applications
• Develop skills in basic firewall programming for cloud VOIP installments
• Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems
• Work with Administrators and End Users on using VOIP features
• Document records/logs of repairs and fixes and maintenance schedule
Requirements
• Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication ability
• Outstanding organizational and time-management skills
• Familiarity with basic network setup
Helpful Skills/Experience (not necessary to apply)
• Advanced networking / VLANs
• Advanced firewall programming
• VMware servers
• VOIP experience
• Desktop knowledge in Windows/MAC

Quantum Leap Communications, Inc. provides competitive pay, benefits, and reimbursement for business expenses. Exact compensation will be commensurate with experience.

To close out 2020 and week 4 of our QL Giving Back campaign, we are honored to be able to spotlight West Michigan Partnership for Children. https://www.wmpc.care/

History:

WMPC in partnership with the Department of Health and Human Services, is a performance-based, data driven, pilot administering foster care in Kent County Michigan with the goal of transforming child welfare to create better futures for children. WMPC oversees the five private foster care agencies in Kent County- Bethany Christian Services, Catholic Charities West Michigan, D.A. Blodgett-St. John’s, Samaritas and Wellspring Lutheran Services.

A community of belonging, resiliency, and hope where children and families flourish

What we do:

WMPC ensures that children removed from their homes by Kent County MDHHS due to abandonment, abuse, or neglect are placed in safe, family-like settings with culturally responsive and trauma-informed services.

We believe there is a better way to support children and families in West Michigan! West Michigan Partnership for Children (WMPC) is a new organization created to pilot the first performance-based foster care service delivery model in Michigan with the goal of improving outcomes for children.

"The need for family emergency shelter in Kent County is vast. Especially in light of COVID-19. Many families, who were living in doubled-up situations or living paycheck to paycheck are finding themselves homeless. Although we have had to pause our traditional shelter models, FPGR has been able to quickly pivot and get families into safe emergency hotel shelter. Tonight, we have 80 families in emergency hotel shelter. We ensure families are safe and have basic needs met, and we will continue to provide emergency shelter and basic needs to families experiencing homelessness and end homelessness, one family at a time!"

Family Promise partners with families who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless by helping them get back on their feet.

Who We Are
For over 20 years, Family Promise of Grand Rapids has provided emergency shelter and basic needs to families with children experiencing homelessness. We help families find a place to call home and walk along-side families after they move home to ensure they don't become homeless again. When we think of homelessness in Kent County, we don't always think of families and children, but many hard-working families are spiraling into homelessness due to a bump in the road: health issues, job loss, family break-up.

2. The legacy of Baxter Community Center might best be explained through the words of Ms. Charlotte Washington, a veteran Baxter volunteer:

“When the Center first opened in 1969, the first director, Herschell Turner, went to houses in the neighborhood to ask people for help in building the playground. Since our house was at 865 Bemis, I helped with that endeavor. We spent days making the playground the way it looks today. Since I got custody of my grand boys when they were very young, I had need of daycare services for after school. I was a teacher with Grand Rapids Public Schools, and my youngest grandson spent many days watching the family house from that playground.

I was at the Center one day and had a health issue that required medical assistance before the ambulance arrived. The staff at the Health Center stabilized me until help arrived.

One very helpful class that I participated in was the gardening class. We learned about the proper soil to use for planting and when to plant the seeds. We learned how to monitor our gardens. When it was time to harvest our crops, we were told to keep our seeds in plastic bags in the refrigerator for next year. In the canning class, we learned how to can our vegetables. We canned tomatoes, green beans, pickles, beets, salsa, catsup, and peppers.

Some things that I knew in the past, I have forgotten, but the Baxter Community Center I will remember for my next 80 years.”

Charlotte truly embodies what Baxter means to this community – this is a place built by our neighbors, run by our neighbors, and serving our neighbors. There are staff members, board members, and volunteers who grew up in the Baxter neighborhood and attended Baxter programs as children. Now they are ensuring that Baxter can be here for the next 50 years.

2020 has been a challenging year for everyone, and Baxter Community Center is no exception. See what Rhonda Erbes - Administrative Director at Baxter Community Center has to say about the challenges of 2020 and how we can help.

At Quantum Leap, we are proud and honored to be able to assist Baxter as part of our QL Giving Back campaign.

"The COVID-19 pandemic has affected Baxter in a variety of ways. Though our Wholistic Health Center and Marketplace never closed, the Child Development Center briefly suspended services in March to ensure that we could keep our staff members and families safe. Teachers were innovative, creating take-home kits to keep students engaged – like DIY pizza. Our Mizizi Maji Mentoring program participants were all given Chromebooks, headphones, and cases to participate virtually in a book club and candy making course via Zoom.

Funding has been the biggest challenge COVID has presented to Baxter. We were forced to cancel our annual fundraising events this year, which we rely on to help fill gaps in our budget. Baxter is counting on our generous community to support us by investing in our mission."
