It’s been 6 years and literally NO-ONE other then Dell and HPs office line has been using this new standard (very loosely using it) … guess when you can’t innovate just change some stuff around and call that the innovation

Intel originally introduced the ATX12VO (ATX 12 Volt Only) standard in 2020, promising simplified PSU designs and efficiency improvements over the standard ATX standard, with the ATX12VO V2 standard arriving in 2022 with further efficiency improvements, especially when it comes to idle power draw. Bunch of announcements today:
Nvidia launches RTX spark a CPU GPU NPU chip that will have onboard memory it’s all ARM for windows so Microsoft will have to figure that out it’s also for desktop too so likely soldered on CPU meaning if something dies it’s a whole new cpu and board it has 128Gb of “unified memory” tho so maybe it’s affordable? Mixed signals there

AMD launches 9070 GRE ($549), 5800X3D GRE ($349) as well as 7700X3D ($329) and the big one AM5 support extended to 2029 for anyone building a new PC AM5/AMD is where it is at! even on a budget build we have our upgrade kits in stock $750 installed with labor it’ll get you in on a whole new platform with DDR5!

There’s a hack that was going around with meta. People were able to ask meta AI to add a new email address to any account. Literally the hack was fire VPN to the victims general location try to sign in then invoke the AI and just ask it to add attackers email to the account. Even though it says if it matches the email on file it will email any address with a code. Attacker responds to the bot with the code and they get in. Somehow it gets past 2 factor codes. Apparently it’s patched now but not without a bunch of single word accounts getting taken.

KB5089573 is released! It is the first phase in Microsoft’s “K2” campaign, which aims to speed up the AI Slop they released that slows down Windows. It’s currently in preview. I’d recommend, if you use your computer a lot, to hold off for a couple of days to make sure there’s no regression. But you can get it by going to Start, Settings, Windows Update, and click search now. It should show up right below that box.
Another fun problem that will be plaguing Dell users will be the Secure Boot key update that’s been out for a while, but it’s been auto-installing for a lot of people as of late. There are multiple updates with this. But what it does is wait 5-15 minutes to update the keys that make Secure Boot work, which are expiring next month. For some, Windows will hard freeze as the task runs and runs out of space in NVRAM (think of it as motherboard's memory).
If that’s happening to you, bring it by. We can disable and see what options you have to keeping Secure Boot on, or if your machine is needing it off (if it’s really old). I’ve noticed it’s mostly dell users but I’ve seen reports on HP as well
