Fiber pedestals or peds are protective, ground-level enclosures that house and splice fiber-optic cables. If one of our peds is on your property, please take these precautions to avoid internet outages and costly repairs: 1) Do not attempt to move or alter it. 2) Do not plant trees or shrubs around a ped. 3) Make sure w**d whackers and mowers do not hit the outer shell. 4) Never burn grass near a ped.

Exciting to see the WHO Great Iowa Tractor Ride in Webster and Calhoun counties this year! Tractors will be visiting several WCCTA communities during the 3-day ride based at the Webster County Fairgrounds in Fort Dodge.

In ghost tapping, portable NFC-enabled devices are used to steal money from mobile wallets. (NFC stands for Near Field Communication — short-range wireless technology that allows devices to exchange data.) When close to your pocket or purse in crowded areas, thieves can trigger small, unauthorized charges to validate card data and steal funds without physical contact. To protect yourself, turn off NFC on your phone when not actively using it for payments.

Every digging project, from planting a bush to installing a sprinkler system, requires a call to 811 before to have underground utility lines marked with flags or paint. Once the locators are done, you’ll be able to dig in without worrying about causing damage and potentially disrupting service.
