I am going to start posting periodically a tribute to the great teams from the past here in Minnesota. Please contact me to highlite your team. I am looking for State Championship teams from 1985 and prior to begin with and will post as I get them.
We will start with my first entry. The 1986 Wabasso State Champs.
Thanks to Jack Reese (Hi, I'm Jack Reese. I bat 3rd and play Shortstop) who sent me these photo's.
Wabasso defeated a very powerful Stewart Taylor team in the Championship "if" game of the MSF 1986 Class A State Tournament to earn a trip to the National Tournament where they finished 5-2 good enough for 7th place.
State & National Brackets along with Wabasso's scorebook are below thanks to pitcher Tony Price.
Defeating Stewart Taylor in 1986 was no easy task as the young boys from Duluth had finished 2nd in the 1985 Class A National Tournament proving yet again how powerful Minnesota Men's Fast Pitch was in the 1980's.

One of the best Men's Fast Pitch players to ever come out of our state.
Growing up in Adrian/Ellsworth, Mn., playing in the Border League in SW Minnesota.

2004 USA Softball Player of the Year! Chad Boom, one of the Border League's best ever!

Chad Boom led the USA Men’s softball team to a fourth place finish at the XI ISF Men's Softball World Championship in Christchurch, New Zealand Jan. 29 –Feb. 7. He led the Red, White and Blue in all categories totaling a .450 average from the plate starting in eight of nine games played. A 7-2 overall team record, Boom led the RBI category with eight knocking in three home runs, two doubles, nine hits and nine runs. An on base percentage of .542, Boom highlighted his championship performance with a 3-for-3 outing with one RBI in the U.S. 7-3 victory against Japan. In the 18-0 U.S. rout over the Czech Republic, he led the U.S. offense going 3-for-4 with five RBI, two doubles and a home run.

LORETTO, MN.
45+ Modified Fastpitch League Always Looking for New Players. Here are the details:

Age 45 and over. A lot of guys in their 60's and even 70's.

Thursday nights in Loretto - beautiful field - the 4 teams are great guys - good umping - really fun.
Modified fastpitch. Most of the pitchers are ex-fastpitch hurlers - but very hittable -lol. The teams are all very even.
We play 9 regular season games and 2 playoff games. No practices - just come out and play on Thursday nights.
