Ahéhee’ to the Navajo Nation Economic Summit team for recognizing Laguna Creek as a Coral Sponsor for NNES 2026.

We are honored to support an event that brings together Navajo leadership, entrepreneurs, innovators, and community members focused on strengthening economic opportunity across the Navajo Nation.

We have been grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Navajo/Indigenous business owners and stakeholders who are helping shape the future of Navajo tourism, hospitality, and economic development.

We look forward to joining everyone in a few weeks and continuing the conversation around building stronger businesses, creating opportunity, and keeping more economic activity within our communities.

Let's Build the Navajo Nation Economy, Together.

This Memorial Day, we honor and remember all those across the Navajo Nation and the United States who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to their country.

the Navajo Nation Veterans Memorial Park in Window Rock was created as a “living memorial” honoring Diné warriors that include those who were KIA or remain MIA in service to the U.S. Armed Forces?

The memorial beautifully weaves together military remembrance and Navajo cultural teachings — featuring a medicine wheel design, sacred sandstone arch alignment, and a bronze Navajo Code Talker statue at its center. More than 147 fallen Diné warriors are honored within its memorial walls, including those lost in service since the memorial’s opening who paid the ultimate price.

As many gather today in remembrance, we encourage learning more about this powerful place of reflection, healing, and honor within the Navajo Nation.

We had the opportunity to attend the Navajo Nation Division of Economic Development’s Navajo Business Regulation Outreach Workshop hosted at the Phoenix Indian Center, followed by the American Indian Chamber of Commerce of Arizona (AICCAZ) luncheon featuring NNDED Director Sharlene Platero and Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren.

We appreciate the leadership of the Phoenix Indian Center and American Indian Chamber of Commerce of AZ for helping bring together such a diverse group of Navajo entrepreneurs, industry professionals, and businesses interested in becoming suppliers and service providers to the Navajo Nation and its communities.

The workshop provided valuable insight into Navajo Nation business opportunities, regulations, leasing processes, and the many resources available through the NNDED team.

Most importantly, it created space for meaningful conversations around strengthening economic opportunity and supporting long-term growth across the Navajo Nation.

Ahéhee’ to everyone who shared their time, knowledge, and perspectives throughout the day.

🌍 Honoring American Indigenous Tourism Day

May 4th is a powerful reminder that Indigenous tourism isn’t just about travel — it’s about sovereignty, storytelling, and sustaining communities for generations to come.

At Laguna Creek, we’re proud to stand alongside Native American and Indigenous tour and hospitality operators who are building, growing, and reclaiming their place in the tourism economy.

We believe the future of tourism should:
✔ Keep more revenue in community
✔ Reduce unnecessary fees and vendor stacking
✔ Strengthen operations with tools built for your needs — not retrofitted to them

To all Indigenous operators — we see the work you’re doing, and we’re here to support it.

Continued growth. Continued success. Continued ownership.

🌍 Today is the inaugural American Indigenous Tourism Day!

As part of National Travel and Tourism Week, the American Indigenous Tourism Association officially declares May 4 as the inaugural day! This day honors the original destinations, cultures, and experiences that define the American travel story. 📅

Indigenous tourism is a foundational part of the U.S. travel economy, contributing $11.6 billion annually while supporting Native Nations and communities, strengthening cultural heritage tourism, and connecting travelers to experiences rooted in place, story, and stewardship.

As we look ahead to America250, this celebration marks a shift in the American travel industry, recognizing Indigenous leadership and economic contributions. By establishing American Indigenous Tourism Day, the association is bringing the travel conversation back to its roots, asserting that a truly comprehensive American tourism narrative must honor the original stewards and the enduring legacy of Indigenous peoples.

As our CEO Sherry L. Rupert (Paiute/Washoe) shares, we must recognize that the story of America is not 250 years old—it is thousands of years old.

✨There are moments that remind you why this work matters.

Last week Creek had the privilege of welcoming 54 Business Management and Entrepreneurship students from Tohatchi High School to visit the Navajo Nation Division of Economic Development(NN DED) in Window Rock, AZ. Their business teachers brought them to learn firsthand what it takes to start and sustain a business on the Navajo Nation.

It was truly a blessed visit.

💻Laguna Creek CEO Wyatt Gilmore who was raised on the Navajo Nation, shared his journey with the students — from growing up hauling wood and helping family and neighbors, to working with troubled youth and in construction, and ultimately building businesses that now support tourism, hospitality, and small businesses across Indian Country through technology platforms such as booking systems, POS, and property management systems.

🫶🏾More importantly, he shared something the students could truly feel: that success carries greater meaning when it uplifts your people and your community — and that the journey begins with simply doing a little better each day than the day before.

💪🏽The NN DED team also provided students with a valuable overview of the resources available to Navajo entrepreneurs, including:

• Business policies and laws on the Navajo Nation
• Business development requirements and checklists
• Resources available to Navajo-owned businesses
• Guidance for external businesses interested in doing business on the Navajo Nation
• Important considerations when creating a business plan

✍🏽The visit aligned closely with the students’ current coursework, as many are developing their own business plans as part of their class assignments.

🙌🏽 Ahehee' (Thank you) to the Navajo Nation Division of Economic Development, Mr. Invento, and the students from Tohatchi High School for the great conversation, thoughtful questions, and inspiring energy.

The future of Navajo entrepreneurship was sitting right in that room. 🙏🏽🫵🏽

& - Yá’át’ééh (greetings in Diné) and Ahéhee’ (thank you in Diné),

We’ve returned to Arizona with overwhelming gratitude after attending the 2026 International Indigenous Tourism Conference in Edmonton, AB hosted in partnership with ITAC.

It was an honor to connect with Indigenous tourism leaders, entrepreneurs and partners committed to advancing Indigenous-led tourism and economic growth. We heard your stories and seen your blessed communities - thank you! In turn, you heard about us and attended our breakout session where we shared how integrated booking platforms, POS, and PMS systems can help Indigenous tourism businesses scale sustainably, strengthen operations and keep more tourism dollars within their communities.

Thank you to everyone who engaged in the conversation. We are honored to be a part of and support this growing movement and look forward to continuing the dialogue, so feel free to contact us at [email protected].

Sincerely-
The Laguna Creek Team
