📺 Weekly Tech Tip: Thinking About Cutting the Cable? Let’s Break It Down!

Cable bills getting out of hand? (Looking at you… $180/month 😳)
Good news — there are simpler and cheaper ways to watch TV these days!

Let’s compare 3 popular options so you can decide what fits YOU best:

📡 Option 1: Antenna (Old School… but it still works!)
What it is:
A simple antenna that picks up local channels like ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX — totally FREE.
👍 Pros:
No monthly bill (your wallet just smiled)
Great for local news, sports, and weather
Surprisingly good HD picture quality
Easy setup
👎 Cons:
Limited channels (no ESPN, HGTV, etc.)
Signal can depend on location and placement
No on-demand shows (you watch what’s on)
Best for:
Folks who mainly watch local channels and want $0 monthly cost. Indoor antenna can he inexpensive, outdoor antenna can be a couple hundred bucks depending on who you hire.

🔥 Option 2: Firestick + Streaming Apps
(Think: Prime, Netflix, Hulu, YouTube TV, etc.)
What it is:
A small device that plugs into your TV and gives you access to streaming apps.
👍 Pros:
HUGE variety of shows and movies
Watch anytime (pause, rewind, binge!)
Can replace cable with the right apps
TonyHerman.com
Flexible — cancel anytime, no contracts
Ablison
👎 Cons:
Monthly subscriptions can add up fast 💸
Need good internet (important!)
Live TV (sports/news) may require extra services
Best for:
People who want flexibility and tons of content

📦 Option 3: VSeeBox V6 Plus (The “All-in-One” Box)
What it is:
A one-time purchase TV box that streams content through built-in apps.
👍 Pros:
One-time cost (no monthly bill)
Simple “plug and play” setup
TechBullion
Combines live TV + movies in one place
Easy for less tech-savvy users
👎 Cons:
Quality and support can vary depending where you buy. No closed captioning for live TV. Some places online have a super low price and they end up being fake boxes. (Ask me, I'm a reseller)
Some apps/services may not be officially supported but that's why you only use their heat apps Sometimes a channel or movie may not be available, although they are great at fixing the issue.
Best for:
People who want all the premium TV channels, every sporting event/game, as well as local channels plus access to streaming all the movies and tv shows with no monthly costs

This is just 3 ways to cut the cord. There are so many other options!

🧠 Simple Breakdown
Want FREE TV? → Antenna 📡
Want flexibility & premium shows? → Firestick 🔥
Want “everything in one box”? → VSeeBox 📦

😂 Bonus Dad Joke of the Week:
Why did the TV break up with cable?
Because it found a better stream of options.

💬 Question for the group:
Are you still paying for cable, or have you already “cut the cord”? What are you using?

💻🧹 Tech Tip of the Week: “Computer Tune-Ups: Because Your PC Needs a Spa Day Too!”
When was the last time your computer had a tune-up?

If your answer is “uhhh…” or “never”… we need to talk 😂

Just like a car, your computer needs a little maintenance to keep running smoothly. Otherwise… things get weird.

What a Yearly Tune-Up Does:

Speeds up your computer (no more “go make coffee while it loads” ☕)

Removes junk files and clutter.

Updates important software and security.

Helps prevent crashes and freezes by proactively looking for hardware issues and bugs.

What Happens If You DON’T Do It:

❌ It gets slower and slower

One day it’s “a little laggy”… next day it takes 10 minutes just to open email

❌ More pop-ups and weird behavior

Random ads, mystery toolbars, and that one browser you swear you never installed. (Wave browser, one launch etc. Are actually infections of unwanted programs)

❌ Higher risk of viruses & scams

Outdated computers are like unlocked front doors for hackers

❌ Crashes at the worst possible time

Usually right when you're doing something important… because of course it does 😅

👉 Think of It Like This: Skipping a tune-up is like never changing the oil in your car…

Sure, it runs… until it REALLY doesn’t.

💡 Pro Tip:

If your computer is:

Over 1–2 years since last cleanup

Running slow

Acting “a little possessed” 👻

…it’s probably time.

😂 Bonus Laugh:

“My computer isn’t slow… it’s just on ‘senior mode’ now.”

📞 Want your computer running like it’s young again (or at least middle-aged)? I can help with a full tune-up—no confusing tech talk, I promise. Plus I'm more patient than your kids/grandkids.

🖥️ Weekly Tech Tip 🖥️
Don’t let pop-ups scare you — most are fake.

If a message suddenly pops up on your screen saying things like:
“Your computer is infected!” or “Call this number immediately!” — don’t panic 😄
These are usually scare tactics, not real warnings.
👉 What to do instead:
• Don’t click anything inside the pop-up
• Don’t call the phone number shown
• Simply close the window (or restart your computer if it won’t close)
Real security alerts from your computer will not ask you to call a random number.

⭐ Bonus Tip:
If the pop-up won’t go away, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete and restart your computer. That usually clears it right up.
If you’re ever unsure whether something is real or not, I’m happy to take a look for you.

🖥️ Weekly Tech Tip 🖥️
(PLUS a savings offer at the end of this post)

Why having multiple antivirus programs can actually cause problems
It sounds like a good idea — more protection must be better, right? Unfortunately, computers don’t see it that way 😄

When you have more than one antivirus program, they can argue with each other, slow your computer down, and sometimes even miss real threats.
Think of it like having two security guards fighting each other instead of watching the door.

👉 The best plan is to have just ONE good antivirus program and keep it updated. Windows 11 already includes built-in protection called Windows Security, which works very well for most people.

⭐ Bonus Tip:
If your computer suddenly became slow after installing a new antivirus, that could be the reason.

If you’re not sure what protection you have — or if you have more than one — I’m happy to check it for you.

Windows 11 Tip: Use Search before filing a missing persons report on your files and programs

Ever open your computer and say,
“Where did it go?! I KNOW it was right here!”
Relax… your computer didn’t eat it. Probably 😄

Instead of clicking every button like you’re defusing a bomb, click the magnifying glass on the taskbar and type what you’re looking for — email, photos, documents, word, the name of your file etc.
Windows will find it faster than we can say,
“I didn’t touch anything… and I don’t know how it got there.”

⭐ Bonus Tip:
If something suddenly looks HUGE or tiny on your screen, hold Ctrl and gently roll your mouse wheel.
You probably didn’t break anything — Windows just decided to play zoom games again 😉

If your computer continues its mysterious ways, I provide counseling services for confused humans and stubborn PCs 😉

🖥️ Windows 11 Tip of the Week: Handy Keyboard Shortcuts 👀

👉 What is the Windows (Win) key?
The Windows key is the key on your keyboard with the Windows logo on it (usually near the bottom left, between Ctrl and Alt). You hold this key down while pressing another key to use shortcuts.
Here are some easy and helpful ones to try:

🔹 Win + A – Open Quick Settings (Wi-Fi, volume, Bluetooth)
🔹 Win + V – Open Clipboard History (you may need to turn this on in Settings)
🔹 Win + H – Talk instead of type using voice dictation
🔹 Win + . (period) – Open emojis, GIFs, and symbols 😊
🔹 Win + X – Open the “secret” menu with system tools
🔹 Win + D – Instantly show or hide the desktop
🔹 Win + L – Instantly signout/lock computer

💡 Tip: You don’t need to memorize them all—just try one shortcut this week!

🤦‍♂️ Dad Joke of the Week:
I tried to tell my computer a joke…
…but it didn’t laugh — it just froze. 🤷‍♂️

😂 Slow as a sleepy turtle

If your computer is taking longer to load than it takes to make a cup of coffee… we should talk ☕😄

I provide mobile computer repair, which means I come to you — no unplugging cords, no hauling equipment, no waiting at a repair shop. Just convenient, local help when your computer decides to act up.

💡 Computer Tip of the Week:
If your laptop feels unusually hot, check where you’re using it. Soft surfaces like beds, couches, or blankets can block airflow and cause overheating, which forces the computer to slow itself down to prevent damage. Using a flat, hard surface can noticeably improve performance and extend its life.

📩 Message or call me if your computer needs help — or if you just want honest advice before replacing it.
Friendly, mobile, and no tech-shaming included 👍

I hope everyone had a great holiday season! I'm sure many of you got new computers or parts for your gaming setup. I'd love to help if you haven't found the time to transfer everything or install your new parts.

For those who decided to stick with your "old trusty" laptop, if it's been acting up and yelling at your computer hasn’t worked yet, it might be time to call me 😆

I offer mobile computer repair, which means I come to you and fix the issue without you having to unplug everything or drive anywhere.
Slow computers, strange pop-ups, software issues — I handle the headaches so you don’t have to.

💡 Computer Tip of the Week:
If your computer feels slow, check what’s starting up automatically. Too many startup programs can drag performance way down. Trimming just a few can make a noticeable difference.

Call if you would like to schedule an appt. In most cases I'll be able to fit you in within 1 day.
